Art Journal Page With Retro Beach by Dot Leathbridge

 Hello everyone,

It's Dot here today with a tutorial for you that uses stamps
mainly from the Retro Beach stamp set.
There are some hidden gems in this set and I thought it might
be fun to use them on an art journal page.

Here is a step x step tutorial for you so that you can see how
it all comes together.

A quick background has been made using alcohol inks
and a stencil on a gelli plate.
The colours are from our Mood Board this month.

Finger painting is a really fun thing to do!
I used fingers and gesso to create some white areas on my background.

This lovely lady is from Take The Plunge.
She has been stamped onto tissue paper and some white
paint has been added to her skin areas on the reverse side of the
tissue paper.

The same thing has been done with a couple of other
images from this set.
You'll see them in the close-ups further down.

I made another quick alcohol ink background and stamped
the sea shells onto it.
The same colours from the background were used
so that it was sure to match.

The background needed a little stamping.
The stars, netting and words are from the Retro Beach stamp set also.

To finish the background off, before
adding the tissue paper elements,
I've added a border.
Grungy Borders is always a good set to use.
And some oxides were added to darken up the edges and add more depth
here and there on the background.

Here are some close ups of the tissue paper elements after
they were added to the page.
It looks really good when the pattern and colours from underneath
show through the tissue paper.

Here are the stamp sets used:

If you are needing a little inspiration
you might like to check out our Mood Board over
in our facebook group.

And if you are in Australia?
You'll find a great range of Rubber Dance stamps
available through Ink Art Designs.

I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial
and I wish you heaps of fun with your Rubber Dance stamps.
Keep an eye out in your sets for those 'hidden gems'.
It's amazing what you'll find.

Dot x
