Love Birds Card by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hi everyone, thanks for joining me today on the Rubber Dance blog. Have you loved seeing all the Love inspiration so far this month? I've another love card to share with you that uses the birds from Sketchy Birds #2 as the main images. For this card I've used a gel print background from my stash and added  a couple of birds from Sketchy Birds which have been  water coloured.  I cut the legs off one of the birds so that she looks like she is sitting down, or nesting. The hearts are from From Moo to You and they were  stamped, embossed and cut out. There are 3 different sized hearts in this set and I actually  use them quite often. The leaves, from Crazy Flowers #2 , were stamped and painted with white gesso. The eggs are from Textured Spring and have been left uncoloured. Here are a couple of close-ups for you. This is such a pretty bird! Another of my favourite birds from this set. The stamp sets used on this card are: Sketchy Birds From Moo to You Cra...

A Love Story by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hello everyone, It is the month of LOVE. So today I'm sharing an unlikely love story with you using Crazy Monsters and Inky Flowers. Love is in the air and there is beauty everywhere. Even among monsters! After all ... doesn't everyone deserve to be loved? I made a mask by folding a piece of copy paper in half and drawing half a heart along the folded edge and then cutting it out. When you open it you have the whole heart. This was placed on my gel plate and then some paint was rolled out. You'll need to carefully remove the mask before pulling a print. The pulled print was grungy which is what I wanted. I replaced the mask and added some DI around the edge so that the heart popped a little more. With the mask still in place I stamped the love word from Just A Note and added a heart into the white space. The monsters need all the love they can get, so I've added extra hearts from Just A Note and white embossed them. And here are the two lovers. The slug I decided to m...

Under The Sea Bokeh Card by Dot Leathbridge

Hi everyone, Welcome to some underwater inspiration from me today  using the Textured Fishes stamp set. I've been eyeing off this Textured Fishes stamp set for a little while and thought that they might look good on a bokeh background. What do you think? I only used two colours, which  were chosen from our  Moodboard this month. Here are a couple of close-ups of the fish for you. This set has different sized fish facing different directions which makes it quite a versatile set to have  in your collection. The fish have all been coloured in with  alcohol markers and a circle was die-cut around them. All stamp sets from Rubber Dance come with extra elements for you to use. I've used some squirls in the background along with some bubbles near the fish. And of course some underwater weeds is also  handy to have. I hope you enjoyed seeing my card today. The stamp set used is: This set had everything in it that I wanted to use. Thanks so much for stopping...

3 Little Birds Card by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hi everyone, Gosh ... have you seen the new stamp releases from Rubber Dance yet? There are an amazing 10 new sets for you to have fun with! For today though, I've made this layered card for you using some of my favourite stamps. (up until there were more stamps released that is. Now I will end up with some NEW favourite stamps lol). I've used repeat stamping with one bird from the Sketchy Birds stamp set. The first thing that I did was to lay down some colour. I've used 2 blue tones in Distress Oxides as they are a soft colour and the colours layer beautifully. The bird was stamped 3 times.  I stamped and masked the center image before stamping the same bird either side of it. This gives a lovely 'coziness' to the little group. Still using the mask, more detail has been added  to the background using a stencil. Then some tone-on-tone stamping with one of the  Mandalas stamps finishes off the background. I seriously can't get enough of these Mandalas! Still ...

Dancing Woman by Dot Leathbridge

Hi everyone, I can't get the Mandalas out of my mind this month, so today I'm sharing another card using one of the stamps from this set. This time I've teamed it up with the beautiful Dancing Woman. A true classic! The colours of our Mood Board are so soft and feminine this  month and I think the Dancing Woman goes well with this theme. Here are a few pictures that I took along the way while making this card. I stamped a stamp from Carved Collection #3 then stamped a Mandala stamp over the top of it. Masking off the Mandala , I faintly stamped Da Vinci Woman #1 so that she  is peering out from behind the Mandala.  She will be watching over the Dancing Woman. The leaves are from Sketchy Flowers #3. I used a part of one of the flower stamps as that  is all that was needed. There is something very relaxing about colour in  Mandalas don't you think? A little extra doodling was added with a white pen. Some stenciling was added to give it life. And the leaves ...
