FISH DIET collages on images by Ellie Knol

The Fish Diet stamp set made me want to create a collage on sea-themed-pictures.

Think how you could use this over a photograph of a (menu of a) restaurant where you were served very tasty fish and you ate it to the bone ..
... or as I did here: to make a collage over a photograph taken at the beach...

I've actually recorded a video for you all, but I realize now that editing video's is not as easy as I thought. I'm working on that part.
I made printscreens of parts of the video of a second project to provide you with the step by step of this technique.

(Click on the images for a bigger picture.)

Stamp the fish with a solvent ink onto a piece of a transparant sheet or acetate.

Gather some sea-themed pictures....
... by placing the stamped image on acetate over them...

... you can decide whether it will be useful for this technique.

For this example: Stamp the image onto the card with a light solvent ink.

Cover the stamped image with gesso, to create a white backdrop for the stamped image.

Stamp with a darker black solvent ink and leave to dry.

To correct the lines use a black marker to darken lines that are not stamped well.
(I realized I should have done the stamping in a stamp tool as stamping onto gesso can be tricky).

Fussycut a mask of the fish, just the solid parts and cover the stamped image. Stamp collage elements from the same stamp set to create more interest as shown.

Heat emboss the word HEY! with white.

Stamp the 'see-food diet' sentiment in black.

Cut to size and assemble to a card-front.
As you can see I painted the blue gate back in with acrylics; pretty neat isn't it?

Happy crafting!!

I'd like to see what you come up with, and while you do, please enter our (always) anything goes challenge; there is a moodboard too if you'd like to use it...

Atc's MEOWWW!

Hello and welcome to the publication on Friday. How are you all keeping? I enjoy and have a lot of fun creating ATC, today a very colorful duo .I hope you like. I have been playing with  Mixed media marksGrungy Stuff  and Purr-fect!.

Very easy to do, we start. We cut watercolor paper in a size  2,5 x 3,5 inches. In my case, the paper smooth and hot pressed. Chose one of the stamps from the set,  Mixed media marks I apply  ink with different colors of distress oxide, spray water and stamp on the watercolor paper.

When it is dry, (help me with a heat gun to speed up the process), I add color with different pigments.

When I am satisfied with the result, I let it dry.

Now we add textures and depth with black permanent ink, prints here and there. I have also used to stamp oxide inks. I have used the new stamps. Mixed media marks and a Grungy Stuff .

After stamping and coloring the precious kittens, the funniest part comes, the composition and we would finish with our atc's. Now I leave you some photos with details of the project.

Making presents with Things with Wings by Mariken

 Hi everyone,

Mariken here, and today it's all about tags and making a present.

I started making a background with acrylic paint and my gelliplate.
Put some drops on the gelliplate.

With my fingers I made little dots on the plate and made a print.

Just a thin layer with acrylic paint and I've made a second print, a ghost print.
That's the one I love most!

Now it's time to make some tags, or circles...

... and add some marks with white embossing powder.

On a white paper I made a sheet full of colors with blendable inks or Distress inks.

Then I stamped the Things with Wings on this paper and cut them out.

I've made my own wrappingpaper with tissuepaper and some stamps.
It corresponds with the tags so beautiful.

I made some marks with black ink and the stamps from Mixed Media Marks.

Finally, I wrapped a bar of chocolate, and with a matching tag you have a lovely present!

Here are the stamps I've used:

Come Fly With Me Tag by Dot

Hello everyone,
today I'm showing a tag that has been made for my tag journal.

Rubber Dance have some really gorgeous butterflies in their range.
These butterflies are called Butterfly Trio and they have a lovely
zentangle pattern in the design.
This makes it great for colouring.

Here is a look at the background before anything was added to it.

There was some oxides swiped from the craft sheet, followed by
stenciling using the same colour.
Through another stencil I applied texture paste.
Then stamped Weed Love.

I added some hearts from Friends Fur-ever later on.

This next pic gives you an idea of how the butterflies have been coloured.

Again, swiping oxides from my craft sheet, remembering to dry between layers.
It looks messy! I agree. But once you cut them out they will look
totally different.
The colours are from our mood board this month, so too are the butterflies.

A white paint pen has been used to fill in some of the pattern
on the butterfly.
Remember your images will always looks better when you edge
them with a little black ink.

My discovery this time around is how different sized brushes
will give you different sized splatters.
I've used a 1" brush to make big blobs.
It's always a little 'daunting' (or scary lol)
when you first do it.

And that is my tag!
I hope you enjoyed seeing it.

We have a monthly comp over on facebook.
There is a mood board for you to draw inspiration from.

We hope to see you there.

Stamps used on my tag are:

Wishing everyone a crafty day!
