FISH DIET collages on images by Ellie Knol


The Fish Diet stamp set made me want to create a collage on sea-themed-pictures.

Think how you could use this over a photograph of a (menu of a) restaurant where you were served very tasty fish and you ate it to the bone ..
... or as I did here: to make a collage over a photograph taken at the beach...


I've actually recorded a video for you all, but I realize now that editing video's is not as easy as I thought. I'm working on that part.
I made printscreens of parts of the video of a second project to provide you with the step by step of this technique.

Stamp the fish with a solvent ink onto a piece of a transparant sheet or acetate.

Gather some sea-themed pictures....
... by placing the stamped image on acetate over them... 

... you can decide whether it will be useful for this technique. 

For this example: Stamp the image onto the card with a light solvent ink. 

Cover the stamped image with gesso, to create a white backdrop for the stamped image.

Stamp with a darker black solvent ink and leave to dry. 

To correct the lines use a black marker to darken lines that are not stamped well.
(I realized I should have done the stamping in a stamp tool as stamping onto gesso can be tricky).

Fussycut a mask of the fish, just the solid parts and cover the stamped image. Stamp collage elements from the same stamp set to create more interest as shown.

Heat emboss the word HEY! with white.

Stamp the 'see-food diet' sentiment in black.

Cut to size and assemble to a card-front.
As you can see I painted the blue gate back in with acrylics; pretty neat isn't it?

Back from The Netherlands

Hello everyone! It's Bibi here today, typing to you from my new keyboard .... Isn't that speck-tacular?  But what does my "new" keyboard have to do with my trip to The Netherlands? Keep reading and you'll soon find out ... As our regular blog readers will know, I spent a week in The Netherlands earlier this month. The main reason I went there was so I could go to the ARTSpecially stamp show in Nijkerk to meet my Dutch retailer - Marian, who owns Hobbycompleet de Duif . But before that, my sweetheart and I spent some days in Amsterdam, one of my fave places in the world! The huge "I amsterdam" letters on the plaza behind Rijksmuseum (National Gallery). Any toursist with respect for herself will take 100's of photos of those letters....
