Let's Dance with Rubber Dance all over an Art Journal page

Hello my dear creative friends, it's Anita here today to show you step by step how to make an Art Journal page, like this:

As you know an art journal is a kind of a private journal, and many of the great artists had an art journal where they sketched and wrote down their big ideas. Often an art journal page would be a bit messy, and have some writing. And that is what I show you today. Everything is allowed in an art journal. As you can see I found some beautiful pictures in a magazine which I tore out and glued down on my page. That is also allowed, to find something beautiful and use it in your own art. Not copy it but just as a part of your own art. If you copy someone else's art you have to credit her/him.

Okay, so here we go:

Step 1:

Find some nice pictures in a magazine an tear them out and glue them down on your page.

Step 2:

Let dry, then use some clear gesso all over your page. Clear gesso to not hide the nice pictures you have glued down, and also prepare the page for more to come :-)

Step 3:

Take a stamp, modelling paste and embossing stamp pad. First swipe out a suitable layer of modelling paste three places on your page, then first push your stamp into the embossing pad and then in the modelling paste. I push my stamp in the embossing pad so the modelling paste does not stick so firmly in the stamp (it's easier to wash it afterwards). This stamp is from the set called Round in Circles.

Step 4:

Let the modelling paste dry over night or at least for several hours. Do not use your heat gun, you don't want to get bubbles! When it's dry take your Distress ink and your Distress tool and swipe gently over the stamped images. I've used the colour Picked Raspberry on my page.

Step 5 :
Then I changed my mind and I used my fingers and stroked gently outward white gesso on the page, but not over the tulips and the stamped images.

Step 6:

Now the real fun begin - the stamping :-)  I stamped the woman from the Collage Mix set and the Old Book stamp on my page.

Step 7:

Then I stamped the Diamond stamp a little here and a little there.

I stamped Rubber Dance with the letter set Alphabet in stitches and coloured them with my pink Wink of Stella pen, so I achieved a little glitter. And on free hand I wrote "let's dance all over the page".

Step 8:

I took the black Archival Ink an rubbed gently over the modelling paste stamped images.

Step 9:

With my Derwent Metallic pencil I drew along the the tulips and then used my water brush.

Step 10:

Time for some splatters, pink and blue-ish.

Step 11:

I made a heart with my glue gun and pink glitter glue, and glued the heart down on my page (remember everything is allow in a art journal).

Step 12:

I also stamped the curves from the set Round in circles a little here and there.

And glued down some buttons, three blue-ish and three pink. I also did some white splashes on the page for.

The final result:

I hope you like my page and that I gave you some inspiration to join our current challenge which started the 15th this month and goes on until the 28th. The theme is LAYERS.

Thank you for visiting. Bye for now.

Hugs, Anita
