Aztec Art Doll Cards

Hello.  Gail from the design team here today.  Welcome to February, the month of love.  Did you see the fun new Rubber Dance challenge?  Those gorgeous colours?  Did you see my inspiration card?  The reason I ask is because the background that I used on that card is the same that I am using on these cards as well.  I made a masterboard and have used it to make a number of different cards.  Here are the ones I want to share today.....

I used the colours from the Rubber Dance Colour Challenge.

Once I had my background I went hunting for other elements and was inspired by a challenge to combine flowers with the hearts.  Here's how it all went together.

I started with an A4 sheet of light grey card and stamped the large heart from Arty Hearty using archival Watering Can ink.  I needed 4 masks to make this sheet.  Then I coloured the hearts with dilute Worn Lipstick distress ink and my waterbrush.

I was looking for an image to use and spotted this Aztec Art Doll.  She hasn't been out of the box for a while and she seemed to go so well with the Textured Flowers and Arty Hearty background.  I used a Sizzix Stitched Rectangle die to cut my panel from the masterboard and layered it on a light green panel and a dark green base card.  I stamped and embossed the large daisy from Textured Flowers on some card that I had coloured with red Brusho's.  I fussy cut the flowers and also stamped and embossed the stems on the light green card and fussy cut them as well.  I stamped and embossed the Aztec Art Doll and coloured her with Promarkers.

For my second card I used the same base card and panel.  Then I cut the Arty Hearty panel with three of the stitched rectangle dies.  I stuck the largest frame to the card.  I added a layer of foam behind the middle panel and two layers of foam behind the center panel.  Then I put my Aztec Art Doll on there and her legs were just dangling in mid air!!  Bet you wish I'd taken a photo of that!!  What to do???

I had another look at the Textured Flowers set.   I really like the Textured series because each set comes with additional small detail stamps.  In the case of the flowers there are patterns and leaves and also some smaller versions of the large flowers.  So I took the smallest daisy and stamped it lots of time on the brusho coloured card.  I needed 5 masks this time LOL.  I cut along the top of the stamped flowers and then added it to the card.  I covered the raised layers and stuck it down to the base card at each side, so it has a curved profile and gives Aztec Art Doll a comfortable place for her legs.   I used a white gel pen to do some spirals in the middle of the tiny daisies.

I added a stamped, embossed and fussy cut medium daisy from Textured Flowers using the same brusho coloured card.  I used my white gel pen to add some details.

Hope you like my bright, fun cards and feel inspired to join the challenge.  Don't forget, the colour challenge only runs until the 14th and then there will be a new challenge starting.  So get your creations linked up and then come back on the 15th for a new theme and another chance to win Rubber Dance stamps.

All the stamps I used today and many more are available in the Rubber Dance online shop and at selected retailers.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Cool romantic cards, without being sugar coated. I like that. Glad you took the Aztic Atr Doll stamp out of the box to play, I like her a lot. Nice to see how well she goes together with the Textured Flowers! I though I had seen that background before ;) - Making masterboards while you're at it is a good idea.
Thanks, Gail! ♥

These are brilliant Gail. and I loved seeing how they came together. Your masking technique is cool, it's something I've never really got to grips with. I also need to check out the shop as I've not spotted these art dolls - how rude of me lol xx
