Let It Bee Art Journal Page by Dot

Hi everyone,

It's Dot here with a fun little Art Journal tutorial for you.
My art journal is a ring binder one. So for this project I've cut up some water colour card
to fit the journal (5" x 7").
All that needs to be done now is to punch a couple of holes in the side
of the finished page and then in it goes!

Are you ready to see how this all came together?
Here we go ...

To get the dripping honey effect I've mixed some water and Colour Crush powder to my craft sheet,  and then scooped it up with the top of the journal page.
I spritzed a little water to get it moving and then let it drip down the page.
The hexagon is a stencil.
Simply colour in the stencil with some distress inks and
stamp the small bee from Buzzy Bees into the center with a matching distress oxide.
I used yellow, orange and brown to fit in with this month's challenge colours.
Because there was a little Colour Crush left over on my craft sheet
I splattered some extra orange onto the page.

It's now time for some more stamping.
Flowers from Antique Botanicals were added to create a place for the bees to collect the pollen.
And because it takes many bees to make the golden honey
that we love to eat, some extra bees were added to the top corner.

Black paint was added through a honeycomb stencil.
And water colour pencils are gently flicked along the
petals of the flowers to bring them to life.

The edge has dark brown distress ink added around it.
And the words are from Something Wonderful.

We all realize how important bees are to the well-being of the world.
So this page reminds me of that.

All that needs to be done to finish the page is to add some more bees!
These were stamped onto white card, cut out and coloured.

It looks like the queen bee is surrounded by her workers.
Here is a fun fact about bees for you - worker bees are all female!
And I will say no more about that lol.

Here are a couple of close-up pics of the detail.

The stamps used on this Art Journal page are:

A reminder that we have a challenge each month
where you can be in the draw
to win a fabulous prize.
You'll find the challenge over on our facebook page here.

This month's challenge is ...

As always, I wish you a lot of fun with your stamps.
Happy stamping,
Dot x

What a delightful page! Love how you used the heksagon (Be hive pattern) and the bees in multiple ways to enhance the team and design! Love it:)
