Follow That Sheep

Hello.  Gail from the design team here today.  I have a friend.  He's a farmer.  It's his birthday next month, and I usually get him a little present.  Usually something silly, but useful, often related to cows or sheep, cos that's what he has.  Well, Rubber Dance doesn't have any cow stamps.  But they do have a sheep.  So here we go.  Practical art staring the Sheep........

I used the current challenge colours, dark brown, pale blue and white with a couple of others added in for good measure LOL.  

I started with a large empty tin.  The kind you get fruit salad or such in.  I used Walnut Stain distress on a piece of copy paper, cut it to size and covered the outside of my tin.  

I cut Poppystamps Boddington Hillside three times from green card.  I removed the house from two of the cuts and stuck them around the tin.  They fitted almost perfectly.  I have randomly left bits of the negative cuts to make it a bit more interesting.   I made my own tape to go around the top of the tin using some painters tape that I stamped with the linked circle stamp and pale blue acrylic paint.  Remember, if you are using paint with your rubber stamps clean them promptly to avoid rubber stamp death.  

This was the point when I realised that it would have been much easier to build my scene on the flat piece of paper and then stick it on the tin!!  This would also have allowed me to take a lovely picture of the whole thing!!  Live and learn eh?   Anyway, two sheep.  The one on the left's head has been adjusted so he is looking at the house.  Hoping for food no doubt.  The one on the right is thinking about following that sheep........

Which are coming round to see this sheep, who is hoping that someone is coming out of the house to feed him.   I would just like to admit that when I was editing my photo's I actually found that I had taken this sequence twice.  Round and round the tin we go......  Actually, I'm going to take you around again cos I thought the 'sky' looked a bit too open.  I did think of adding a sentiment, but my farmer friend doesn't do English, so I opted for butterflies.....

I stamped two of the butterflies from Antique Botanicals with black Archival ink, coloured them with distress inks and fussy cut them.  I made lots of these!

I added them in joyful abandon, flitting brightly over my circling sheep.  Baaaaaaaaa.  These tins are great for pens, pencils, brushes, Sizzix Decorative Strip dies etc etc.  Endless possibilities.
