Under The Sea Card By Dot - Tutorial

Hi everyone,
I hope you have been having a crafty day.
It's Dot here with a step x step pictorial for you
for this under water sea horse playground.
There are heaps of fun elements in the Textured Sea Creatures set.
The little extras really do come in handy as you will see further down this post.

I thought I would go through my colouring process with you.
If you are like me, then colouring can be a little daunting.
There is a way around it that I find comfortable, I hope you do to.

Slap a little water colour paint onto some card and then stamp your images.

Once you cut them out they look totally different.

I filled the white areas in with a little orange water colour.
It's subtle, but it helps with the next step.

Using the water colours as your guide, you can intensify the colour
with pencils.

Black fine liner and a white paint pen finishes these little creatures off.

Now it is onto creating a background for them to swim in.

Oxides came in handy for this step as I wanted to
layer one colour on top of another.
It's a quick and easy way to create depth.

A little Oxide through a stencil adds to the underwater effect.

Remember earlier that I mentioned the lovely little extra stamps that are in this set?
I've used them to add a some more texture to the background, using
the same oxide colours.

The oxides came in handy to add some drips, adding to the
under water effect.
The Playful Penguins set has some fantastic seaweed as part of the set.
This is useful for any project with a sea theme.
I have stamped them. Then coloured them with watery distress ink.

The finishing touches are easy.
A little pink splatter with paint in the background.
A doodled border. Freehand.
Stamp some of the star fish from Textured Sea Creatures
and add them to the background.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the process for this card.

The Stamps Used Are:

Playful Penguins

A reminder that our stamping challenge in underway
in our facebook group.
Each month we have a mood board to help inspire you.

I chose the sea from the board, what will you chose?

I hope you find time to join in the fun and to be in with a chance to win fabulous prizes.

Wishing you a crafty day!
Dot x
