Bright Butterfly Tag by Samantha Read

Hello, Samantha with you today, I do hope you are keeping well.
I'd like to share with you a wooden tag found in a clearance box for 3 pence - yes I got lots of them!

I began by covering the entire surface with texture paste, mainly to conceal the 'P' as gesso alone wasn't enough. Once dry I used texture paste again, this time through a stencil to add some raised detail.

I stamped one of the butterflies from the Small Grungy Butterflies stamp set, twice on white card, coloured using watercolours in a contrasting colour and cut out, removing the antenna - ouch.

When the layers of texture paste were dry, I painted graduating between the green and yellow. I then painted the stencil detail white to really make it stand out. I also stamped some text from the same stamp set for more interest.

To really make the white pop I added some holographic gel, it really adds a beautiful, subtle sparkle.

Now we can give the butterfly his antenna using wire adhering one butterfly on top of the other with space between them to add dimension.

To finish my tag I added some red ink splats and ribbon.

Thanks for looking I hope you like it.
Wishing you a lovely day, Sam x

The stamps I used are Small Grungy Butterflies
