Covetousness in an Art Journal
Hi dear friend of Rubber Dance Art Stamps! Nice to see you here. My name is Gabriele, I am a mixed media artist from Germany and a proud member of the Rubber Dance Design Team.
Sometimes I create backgrounds, which I like as they are. I don´t want to change them, but they are still backgrounds and need just a little something to be completed. I tried out some colour mixes on the right side to get something near celadon – the lovely colour of traditional Korean pottery. I was just playing and had some watered down black paint which I put on the left side to darken it a little.
Then on the left page I tried out some new paints I just bought, yellow and red. I liked the red not being so bright. Then some stenceling with black – the brush was too wet on the left side, well ok. Still no idea. Then I browsed through my stash of old newpapers and found this theater group. They looked like ghosts on the right side and with some arranging to and fro I had my final picture. And I could see enough of my background. Yay!!
They did not look very happy and seemed to spy out for something. Then I knew. They envied or better covet the pretty birds for wearing their beautiful feathers naturally. Maybe also for being free? But now enough of my interpretation, maybe you come up with another story?
Anyway this led me to the wonderful Rubber Dance bird stamps. There really is a big choice of anything related to birds. Here are some close ups:
I stamped that cheeky little birdie on delicate paper so the background would shine through a bit but wouldn´t let the watercolours sink into the background and give me some bright colours. Also I gave it a little red hood.
The collaged giant blueberry gives some colour and so do the eggs I stamped on coloured paper and then cut out. What will hatch from these eggs??
