Something slightly different with Grungy Butterflies by Evelyn

Hello lovely Rubber Dancer, it´s Evelyn here today!

This time I want to show you a DIY boxy bag I made. Yes, it´s fabric! You can use the Rubber Dance stamps even on fabric, it works really good! I used again the fabulous Grungy Butterflies and Small Grungy Butterflies stamps.
I love, how it turned out!

You only need a few supplies and it is really easy to make. May be you´ll give it a try?

If you want to see how I made this, you can watch the process video. Have fun!

You will need 2 pieces of fabric in the same size (mine were 40x25cm, about 16"x10"), but you can make it in nearly every size, it´s totally up to you!
For the little handles I used a stripe of fabric sewn left and right.
You will also need a zipper, I used a devisible one, it should be a little longer than the small side of your fabric, fitting yarn and of course a sewing machine.

I started with stamping, but I would recommend to start with colouring the fabric. It is way easier to do - but it was the first try, so you have to make experiences, don´t you?
I stamped the lovely butterflies randomly all over the fabric, masked them (which didn´t work unfortunately) and colored the fabric with different mists. I used Tattered Angels mist and I love the really bright colours! To make the butterflies stand out more, I painted them with white acrylic paint and went over the stamped image with a black Posca pen. But this is optional.
But you have to have in mind, that the bag will not be washable at this time. If you have fabric colours, I would recommend to use these. But for the use as a pencil case it will do it - honestly .... how often do you wash your pencil case 😏?

Before I started with sewing, I wanted to protect the surface and make the fabric sturdier so that the bag would be more stable. For that I gave it a generous coat of varnish onto the front and the back and made sure, the varnish soaks in. Then I left it to dry over night.
Now I only had to put everything together - how to you can see in my video. You can find many tutorials on internet, just ask aunty Google 😉
Now I hope you feel inspired and may be you make one of these cuties yourself!

Don´t forget our challenge, there are some days left to play.
