Card using Retro Beach by Dot

Hi Everyone,
It's Dot here and welcome to a fun tutorial using the Retro Beach rubber stamp set
from Rubber Dance.

While sorting out my stamps this stamp set jumped out at me ...
I love the vintage and timeless style in it's design.
It is one of those sets that will never go out of style. A real Classic!

There is nothing perfect about this card, but that just adds to the vintage feel of it.
There are 11 different stamps in the set and I've used 8 of them!

Here we go with how it all came together.  Got your cuppa ready?

Step 1:  Using one of the stamps from Grungy Borders make a really rustic film strip.  Have you noticed my imperfections yet?

Step 2:  Masked off the edge of the filmstrip with some photo copy paper and added some Distress Ink (Salty Ocean - perfect naming don't you think?) along the edge and a little around the border.  A little extra inky splots were added by picking up some ink off my craft sheet with an acrylic block and adding in some watery effects.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 with Twisted Citron in the top section of the card.

Step 4:  Rip up some paper to use as masks and place around the edges of each little film strip section. Stamp one of the gorgeous images from Retro Beach into the masked area.  Repeat along each section of the film strip until all sections have something in them.

Step 5:  Mask off the edges of the film strip again and add some randomly stamped netting with black ink.  With Oxides that match your Distress Ink colours, stamp some anchors into the bottom section and a shell into the top section. Stamp some words from the set along the film strip too.

Here is a close up of the film strip.
I wanted to roughly keep in tune with the colour theme for this month so there are some randomly placed red dots using my water colour pencils.

Step 6:  To finish off your card add some more words from the set - I've chosen Beach Fun, but there are heaps of Summer words to choose from. Then simply mat and layer your card!

I really enjoyed making this card. I'm glad that I decided to sort out my stamps. You never know what forgotten treasures you have in your supplies that can come out to play.
