Let It Snow - How to decorate a MDF Shrine with Stamps

Hi everyone,

It's Donna here today with a decorated shrine featuring some of the new Whimsical Winter stamps.

I used an MDF  That's Crafty! shrine which looks like this before it's assembled.

So it was time to set about giving the front of the shrine a coat of the very yummy That's Crafty! sand texture paste which looks exactly like snow as you can see.

The next step was to add a bit of sparkle to it using a glittery paint. I do apologise for the quality of the pictures as it's really dark here at the moment so even with all the lights on the flash still kept going off!

Now to start painting the other pieces of the shrine using a lovely blue from That's Crafty! multi surface paints. This coats beautifully in one step and is also perfect for stamping on too.

Time to add a little bit of bling to the background using the snowflakes from Whimsical Winter and some embossing powder.

So of course, now I needed something to go into the shrine and this is where I used the new Whimsical Winter set and also the hill, cloud and bird from the Whimsical Summer set. If you notice for the hill all I did was stamp it as usual BUT then turn it around for the blank side and then stamped the small snowflake on it...clever huh?! The little bird has his hat as the snow cat from Whimsical Winter kindly lent it to him lol. Everything was coloured with Zig Clean Colour pens apart from the trees which were stamped on scraps of a Gelli print.

You might notice there is only one tree there, that was before I changed my mind and stamped a further two.

I then assembled the shrine, gluing it all together and then added all the individual stamped pieces. I've had to take pictures of it lying flat as otherwise it created a shadow at the top but believe me it is fantastically 3D.

Here are some other photos to show you the sparkle from it

Oh and also how hard it is to take photos around here sometimes as the offer of a 'helping paw' is never far away!!!

Hope you like it
Donna xx

Love it Donna, dear.
Such sweet use of your mittens, and the trees are gorgeous, in the different colors you used and the snow. Your silvery snowflakes, really made it winter there :-)

Wonderful work Donna!!! I love the complementary colours. Fab work!!!
Ah - it wasn't a snowball at all - it was the top of the shrine! It was the mittens that threw me. A fabulous wintry scene - I just love those pops of colour.
