Tutorial Tuesday - A Gelli print card by Donna Gray

Image
Hi everyone, It's Donna here today with a Tutorial Tuesday which means loads of pictures for you ;) I didn't really have a plan in mind when I started this card but for some weird reason it turned out with an Autumnal theme but the seasons appear so mixed up at the moment so I suppose why not?! All the Details: I pulled out this Gelli printed background from my stash and cut to the size to fit a 6x6 card. I usually use  Decoart Paints  for this as the media ones are very free flowing so a little goes a long way. The effect you see was achieved just by cutting rough circular shapes out of thick card and laying them on the paint on the Gelli plate before pulling the print. As I was looking through all my Gelli prints I saw one that I thought would be perfect to stamp the toadstool from the  Carved Whimsy Wood  stamp set on. It's a nice easy one to fussy cut out too. I thought I'd use one of these very lovely winged fairy creatures from a s...

Tree Love - A Chunkie ATC by Donna

Image
Hi everyone, It's Donna here today with some stamps from the new  Carved Whimsy Wood  stamp set which of course I love ;) This is a very photo heavy post so grab yourself a cuppa and have a little nose through it! Apologies for some of the photo lighting as dark Winter days are not great for that are they! All the details : I have been very lucky to get my hands on these wonderful MDF Chunkie ATCs' from That's Crafty, they come in four different sizes but I've just used the smallest size for my creation. This is how they come, ready to be decorated any way you want. I gave them a quick coat of  That's Crafty! Multi Surface paints , there's no need for Gesso with these as they cover everything in the first coat. I was aiming for a sort of twilight effect with the colours I chose. Next step was to stamp my favourite tree with  Versamark  and then emboss with a white embossing powder, any make will do but try and get one for fine...

The Moon looks larger - Moonscape Card

Image
Hi everyone, Donna here today showing you how to make a moonscape card using just one of the awesome tree's  off the  Carved Whimsy Wood  stamp set (which happens to be on sale in February). First of all I grabbed a sheet of my beloved  Strathmore Mixed Media  paper and cut it down to size to fit a 5x7 card. I then took a post it note, drew a circle on it and then cut it out making sure that I kept a bit of the sticky bit on it! I positioned the post it note circle on the paper and then used a blue and purple  Distress Oxide  with a blending tool to lay down the colour making sure not to disturb the circle. When I finished the blending I flicked a couple of drops of water on the paper and left it for a few seconds, then dried with the heat gun. I think this gives a really nice effect doesn't it. I removed the circle and taking the blending tool once more just gently blended a little bit around the moon so it looked softer against the back...

Try a little flower power - Make a brooch

Image
Hi everyone, Donna here today with an idea to turn your beloved Rubber Dance stamps into a brooch you can take with you everywhere you go, now there's a good idea huh?! I suggest you grab a warm cuppa as there are quite a few pictures to guide you through the process ;) I used a wonderful flower from the  Crazy Flowers 1  set and a piece of medium thickness Calico which can be bought pretty much anywhere and is not expensive. I used black Archival ink to stamp directly onto the fabric, it's amazing what a clear image you can actually get. Next step was to colour the flower with some yummy  That's Crafty!  Shimmer Paints. I chose these especially as they're quite translucent so will not cover up the flower design too much. I stamped the inner part of the flower onto some red felt, cut it out and then sewed some white beads onto the circles already contained in the flower centre. Once the beads were sewn onto the red felt, I then stitc...

Let It Snow - How to decorate a MDF Shrine with Stamps

Image
Hi everyone, It's Donna here today with a decorated shrine featuring some of the new  Whimsical Winter  stamps. I used an MDF   That's Crafty! shrine  which looks like this before it's assembled. So it was time to set about giving the front of the shrine a coat of the very yummy  That's Crafty! sand texture paste  which looks exactly like snow as you can see. The next step was to add a bit of sparkle to it using a glittery paint. I do apologise for the quality of the pictures as it's really dark here at the moment so even with all the lights on the flash still kept going off! Now to start painting the other pieces of the shrine using a lovely blue from  That's Crafty! multi surface paints . This coats beautifully in one step and is also perfect for stamping on too. Time to add a little bit of bling to the background using the snowflakes from  Whimsical Winter  and some embossing powder. ...
