A Chilly Trio by Samantha Read

Image
Hello Rubber Dancers, it's been very cold here in England recently, we even had a little snow which inspired this trio of ATC's, all made using scraps of cardboard and just one set of Rubber Dance Stamps - Whimsical Winter. I began by peeling a little of the top layer off the cardboard to reveal the texture underneath, then I painted them and using white paint added the snowflakes. I stamped the images on white card, coloured using watercolours and added sparkle using an embossing powder. I always find capturing sparkle in a photograph quite difficult, I'm hoping you can see it better in this close up of the tree ATC.  I do hope you are keeping warm and well, thanks for looking.  Wishing you a lovely day, Sam :) The stamp set I used is Whimsical Winter

Winter Wilderness by Samantha Read

Image
Hello, Samantha here today and firstly I want to wish you a peaceful, safe and creative 2021. We've had some chilly weather here in England which inspired this home decoration creation. I'd love to live in a place like this, quiet and cozy. I began with a 6 inch diameter round piece of mountboard, and I always lay the stamps on to the substrate to get an idea of lay out and fit. Sometimes this alone can spark new ideas. I really wanted lots of texture so for the areas where the house was going to be and where I was going to stamp directly on the mountboard I didn't add any texture paste. After adding texture paste to the other areas I applied a layer of white gesso. Then using my fingers and lots of different paints I started adding colour. When the background was finished I stamped Weed Love in white gesso and snowflakes from Whimsical Winter directly. On white card I stamped the house from Whimsical Winter and flowers and leaves from Inky Flowers, I used watered down acry...

It's a Snowy Christmas by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hello everyone, is it snowing in your part of the world? Where I live I can only dream of a white Christmas, it's usually hot here. It doesn't stop me from making snowy scenes though. I think it would be awesome to have a white Christmas. Today I've a tutorial for you showing how to make  this snowy Christmas card. Are you ready to see how it is made? Here we go. My idea was to have the moon poking out from behind some clouds so I stamped and masked some clouds before stamping the moon in the middle of the masks. The moon and clouds are from the stamp set called Celestial. The masked were removed and then they were cut out in one piece.  I wanted some extra clouds so I repeated this step. After having a play around with some trees, I decided to combine a tree from Textured Christmas Trees with a tree from Whimsical Winter as I liked the snow on the top of them. The same masking technique used for the clouds was used for the trees. Then they were cut out as one piec...

Mr Frosty Has Come To Play by Dot

Image
Hi everyone, Mr Frosty has come out to play and I think he is getting up to mischief. He is such a fun snowman. This is a quick and easy card to make, I'll show you how. The background is a simple one made by swiping your card through some Distress Ink on your craft sheet. Dabbing the card into any left over droplets adds more interest. My gelli plate was used for this next bit. Again, Distress Inks were used. When you spray a little water onto the gelli plate before stamping with it, it takes away all those little spotty marks that Distress Ink can leave and gives it a lovely watery effect. The snowflakes on the Whimsical Winter set has three different sizes. The medium one was used here to add some wintry effects with Distress Oxides. And then there is Mr Frosty ! He has been sparingly coloured with water colour pencils and cut out. Only one arm has been cut out as it will give a more 3D effect when placed onto the card. Some...
