First art journal page with my word for 2014

Hello everyone! It's Irit from the Design Team here today.

Last year I picked a word for my crafty life. The word was DARE.
I think I followed this word in my crafting and dared to try things I never did before. Some of those things were successful, some  were less, but at least I tried hard to follow my path.
The only thing I didn't try last year was a real art journalling. I didn't even have a real journal to work with.
I have one now and today I want to share with you my very first art journal double spread with this so obvious title : DARE.

I am not sure if this is the way art journal should look, but it's my journal and my way of art expression, so I think I like it this way.
I made the background with lots of mediums, paper pieces, mesh, tapes and a lot of stencils used with texture paste.
I stamped with Rubber Dance background stamps and added the main sentiment using Think Again set.
The word Dare was made with stencil and black ink. The eyes are the main issue over this page: my vision of things I dared to try last 2014 year.

I used those " mute" pastel colors just for one major reason: I was afraid to make too many mistakes with dark colors. With light ones the repair is easy (some gesso and it's all done).
I really hope I am on the right way with my new art journal adventure.
Please be gentle with me! I dare, but I do make mistakes. We all do. And we grow within all own mistakes.
Rubber Dance stamps used to make this project: Think Again, Flourishes, Diamonds, Vintage Script

I am so glad to see you dared to make an art journal page, Irit - it is GREAT!!! I don't think there are any rules to how an AJ should look - it's all about personal preferences in our personal expressions, experimenting with materials and techniques, and having fun. Looks like you did when making this one! I love the layers and textures going on here. Thank you for choosing to use my stamps on your very first art journal page - I'm honoured! :-)

Fantastic journal pages, i think you have nailed it first time but there are no rules only your ArT to explore and share so thank you for sharing and i look forward to more. DARE is a great word and always has us up our game when we hear it, takes me back to school when being dared was fun and innocent and often educational on a personal basis.

Looking forward to more of your shared journal pages, thanks for the inspiration :-) xxx

I don't think they are any rules for Art Journal, you are supposed to do things for yourself however you like! This is a lovely mixed media double page and I love the layers.

I think it's a wonderful page. What I like about art journaling is... THERE ARE NO RULES... so we can each do whatever makes us happy on those pages. I really like that stamp, If you think you can't, think again. I love the colors and all the texture. You are a natural to art journaling... Can't wait to see what you do next.
