Perpetual Calendar

Hello.  Gail from the design team here today.  My first chance to wish you a happy new year.  Wow, 2017.  And I have finally managed to make myself a never-ending calendar.  I have seen various styles of these around and have been meaning to make one, and now I have.  I did think I would go with the cube style, but then I saw some that looked similar to this one and decided to make this style instead.

I kinda winged the design from a picture I saw.  I decided to use this months Rubber Dance challenge colours because I quite like red, white and blue.  Especially blue LOL.

I started by cutting my panels from chipboard using Sizzix Postage Stamp dies.  I arranged them on this 30 x 30cm sheet to show that you could cut them from one sheet.  Well, just about......

I covered both sides of all the panels with cream handmade paper, embossed the edges with red embossing powder and also stamped and embossed the small panels with the Vintage Script stamp.   Those little panels are so cute!

I stamped Berry Bird in blue ink on blue paper and blue embossed the grungy numbers from Pick a Number.  I fussy cut the birds and added them to the small panels.  So cute!  You need 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 on the front and then 7, 8, 9, 0, 1 and 2 on the back.  Make sure you don't put your 1's and 2's on the back and front of the same panel!!

I made the blue panels by stamping the feather from Vintage Birds many times and clear embossing them.  Then I used Aegean Blue chalk ink and covered the paper.  The embossed feathers resist the ink and the original colour of the paper shows through.  I cut this paper into pieces and stuck them on my large and medium sized panels.  The day and month words were created using Basic Grey letter stickers

This is the back of my calendar theater.  I made the paper I covered the box with in the same way but I used baby blue embossing powder for the feathers.  This beautiful stamp is also from Vintage Birds and is on the back of the box.  I stamped the image in blue and fussy cut it.  Then I stamped again in dark blue and fussy cut the bird to give that lovely contrast.

I stamped and fussy cut two more of the swallows and added one to each side of the box

Thanks for dropping by.
All the stamps I used today, and many more, are available in the

I hope you feel inspired to make a red, white and blue creation and link it to the
