Winter Frost Inspiration
Happy New Year stampers!
Craftyfield here again today to show you an inspiration piece for the January Challenge.
I loved the mood board photo and I knew immediately what I wanted to create, I just had to find the techniques and supplies that would turn my vision into a recognisable Winter Frost image!
My base cardstock is pearlised card which I thought would be ideal to evoke the glint of frost (unfortunately not showing at all in the above picture).
I stamped several branches from the Weed Love set by using an overall coating of Versamark on the stamps and adding red and brown with Zig markers.
I then heat embossed with clear powder and, where I hadn't applied colours, the white of the paper is protected for the next step.
I also applied Versamark to the sentiment from the Winter Wonderland set, before adding black dye and red Distress inks to get a
variegated and frosty effect. I then embossed with clear powder.
This is what the card looked like before the next step (you can just make out the shimmer of the pearlised paper):
For the background colour I used Brusho powders in Ultramarine and Turquoise.
I lightly sprayed the card with water, concentrating around the weeds, and tapped a small brush loaded with powder where I wanted colour.
I adjusted the depth of colour by adding more powder where there wasn't enough contrast to show off the weeds, and by adding water and mopping up the excess where the colours were too dark.
I hope you like my card and are inspired to create your own Winter Wonderland, or anything with the January's challenge colours for your chance to win some rubber!
Thanks to Bibi and Susanne for having me on the blog today, it's always a pleasure to be a Rubber Dance guest,

What a clever idea to combine Versamark ink and markers before embossing the flowers, and again with Versamark and coloured inks on the sentiment. I've never tried that. Love the result! Same with the added Brushos in blues, very pretty! Fab use of our challenge colours this month. xx
