Cardmaking With Merry Magpie by Dot
Hi everyone,
welcome back for another quick tutorial.
welcome back for another quick tutorial.
This time Merry Magpie and Doodle Flowers
have been brought out to play.
It feels like ages since Merry Magpie stopped by craft table for a visit.

The inspiration for this has come from our Mood Board this month.
Follow me and we'll see how this has come together.
Step 1: Black Brusho has been sparingly spinkled on gloss card and spritzed with water. The colours automatically blend out and there are other colours that can be seen, like orange and blue.
Step 2: It felt like a little more blue was needed so some splatters of watered down blue Brushos have been added. And just for the fun of it, a little white as well.
Step 3: The background has been built up a little with some stamping. The stars from Merry Magpie were stamped in white. The words from Old Book Page were stamped in blue. The diamond gem and stars were stamped without the Merry Magpie.
You will see in the close-ups that there has been some stenciling added with light blue paint after this step.

Step 4: Some cut out elements to add to the background. Merry Magpie was stamped using a stamping platform. The leaves are from Doodle Flowers and are stamped in blue, then cut out. I really wanted a little more blue on the card.
And the words for this card are from Mix A Sentiment.

Here are some close-ups of the finished card.
I like to go around the words with a black fine-liner to make the words stand out more.
Here you can see the little bit of blue stenciling that I mentioned earlier.
You can see here that I decided to add a few more stars. Simply mask off the bird with some scrap paper and only ink up the stars for stamping.
I ended up adding quite a few extra black stars. For balance! (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).
Step 5: Attach the elements and matte and layer the card.
