Tutorial Tuesday - Your charming smile - A piece of hanging art by Donna Gray
Hi everyone,
It's Donna here today with my current obsession which is to create a piece of art you can hang on your wall ;)
Here is the MDF Round already to be painted with a selection of That's Crafty! Multi Surface paints which cover absolutely everything so there's no need for a coat of Gesso first. The blue was used for the background and the green and orange combined for the grassy hill.
I pulled out 4 sheets of Gelli printed paper from my stash and four tree stamps from Carved Whimsy Wood, Whimsical Summer and Whimsical Winter. I stamped these onto a mixture of the papers with black Archival ink, fussy cut them out and put them to one side for later.
I wanted some writing in the background so I used the Old Book Page stamp and a lighter shade of Archival ink to stamp with as I didn't want it to dominate the piece overall.
Next step was to do some doodling with my beloved Posca Pens, I love the sheer opaqueness of these bad boys :)
Speaking of 'bad boys' my Fred decided that at this stage that he desperately needed my undivided attention and knew exactly how to get it.
When standing didn't work he decided to do a sit in protest instead!!
Once the furry interloper was removed, I managed to carry on with my creation once again.....I wonder if Picasso ever had that problem?!
Anyway, I adhered some of the Gelli printed tree images onto the circle with the cute little cloud from Whimsical Summer which was just stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured in lightly with a water colour pencil and them adhered to the background as well.
I stamped the little flower from Poodle Power with black Archival ink on the hill.
Then I started to colour them in with a mixture of Gelly Roll Stardust pens which have an amazing glittery quality to them which is hard to pick up on the camera unfortunately.
Next up was a bit of shading with a grey Zig Clean Colour pen.
Some more doodling with Posca pens.

For my creation I used the middle sized That's Crafty! MDF Round which is 6 inches in circumference (yes, sorry I still work in inches as I'm very old)

I drew the sun, added some more doodling, added one of the lollipop trees from Carved Whimsy Wood, a Tim Holtz sentiment and a piece of twine to hang it up with.
I hope you like my creation of a whimsical countryside scene which I shall enjoy looking at on my wall especially on a dull day :)
