Let It Be - Cardmaking Tutorial by Dot

Hi everyone,

It's Dot here with you today with a card tutorial for you.

I wasn't too sure where this card was heading until around step 5.  That's when it turned into a love story.

Step 1:

I started by using Shaded Lilac and Broken China Distress Inks on my craft sheet, spritzing with a little water and swiping my card through it. I dabbed it a couple of extra times because I get side-tracked with the beautiful droplet effects.

Step 2:

I thought I'ld do a little ghosting with a stencil and water but it didn't really have much of an effect on this background so ...

using the same inks, I added a little background stamping with some stamps from the Textured Feathers set.

Step 3:

Using my stamping platform, I stamped da Vinci Old Man and a da Vinci woman (this one isn't available anymore, but I think that the da Vinci Woman #3 would work beautifully).

Step 4:

At this stage I thought that I'ld lighten the images by lifting a little of the ink off.

It's only a little thing but sometimes it's the little things that make difference.  

Step 5:

When I was looking for some words to add to this, I came across these two sayings on the Something Wonderful set.  I think they go perfectly together. 

I decided to trim the panel down so that the lady wasn't floating quite so much. Now it feels like my card is turning into more of a story, and that's my favourite thing to do.  This one is a love story.

Step 6:

I also made a quick paper mask for each of the images and added a little more ink around each of the da Vinci's. Again, it's only a little thing, but I felt better doing it.

Oh, and a little random stenciling too.

Step 7:

I mat and layered my card.  Walked away. Came back and decided to play with it a little more.

Why not?

So I added a little more stamping in the background and some more stenciling.

Now it felt better.

Step 8:

Yes ... I walked away ... and then when I came back I decided to add a little more.

Using my masks again, I chose a couple of flowers from the Antique Botanicals set and added them behind the image.  I didn't want them to overtake the main images so I stamped them in Archival Watering Can and coloured them with a little watered down distress ink. 

Sometimes it is all about the little things.
