Make a wish - Creating a wood effect background.

Hi everyone,

It's Donna here today with a tag which looks like a piece of wood....well hopefully it does....a bit!!

This is a really quick and simple effect to achieve. Apply a couple of blobs of Fresco paints (green and white) onto a size 8 manila tag and scrap down the paint using an old store/credit card....make sure it is an old one though lol.

Once that is dry, then grab a ruler and a black fine liner pen and start to randomly draw in the 'planks' to give the wood effect and also add little dots to represent the nails. Add a little bit of brown Gelatos randomly as shown on the photo to darken it down a bit.
Not bad huh?! I can't take credit for this method as I saw it somewhere on my travels, probably Pinterest, but I really liked the way it looked so was dying to try it out for myself.

The next step was to stamp the Da Vinci woman 1 and a flower from the Antique Botanicals set onto a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media paper and then colour them in with a selection of Jane Davenport pencils.  The images were then fussy cut out and put to one side while I had a little think about what else to add to the background.

I thought the image needed little something else so I took a set of wings from Butterfly Trio and embossed them using a white embossing powder and fussy cut them out also to add to the woman.
I then pulled together the whole tag with the images I cut out plus some dry wall tape (yes really) and a small piece of cheesecloth, self adhesive pearls, a fabric flower and I also added a  Tim Holtz quote chip as a finishing touch.

I hope you all like my 'wooden' tag ;)
