Textured Flowers & StarTrish Design Canvas

Hello stampers, Craftyfield here with a larger than usual project.

When I saw Bibi's collab projects (here and here) with Trish Latimer's StarTrish Design stamps and her own Textured Flowers I was tickled... I had already decided that these designs belonged together and was planning a piece of my own. So this is my contribution to this collaboration!

The background is inspired by Trish's process, although obviously I made it my own with "my" colours, motifs and foreground scene! My substrate is a humble box lid, but it is canvas size at 28 x 32 cms (11 x 12 1/2 inches) and will be in constant use during my crafting hours as it will hold some of my stash...

Background:

I smeared the paints in layers over some White Tinting base, using a brayer first and my fingers at the end.

The stencilling and lid printing was also done with acrylic paints whilst the stamping has all been done with Archival ink.

Finally I edged the "canvas" with black Brilliance ink.

Paints:
  • DecoArt: White tinting base, Primary Cyan, Pyrrole Red, Quinacridone Violet
  • Paper Artsy: Yellow Submarine and Nougat Frescos
Stencils:
  • Sequin waste (small and large),
  • Harlequin die-cut Tim Holtz Mixed Media die set
  • Memory Box Piestra tile die cut .
Rubber Stamps: all by Rubber Dance
Other:  Wow embossing powder in Grape, various lids and credit cards as mark making tools.

Foreground:

The "Girl with flower" (my name for her) is a digital image by Trish Latimer, available in the August issue of Craft Stamper. I printed it on standard cardstock, thin enough to go through the printer, and coloured it with alcohol pens. After sticking my girl down I smudged a bit of black pencil around her.

The Textured Flowers were first stamped directly on the lid and then on cardstock to be coloured and fussy cut. The blue one has had its centre replaced by a face from the Collage Mix plate.

Finally, after 3 previous unsuccessful attempts using various methods, I hand lettered my sentiment with a pen nib and India ink.

I do hope you will like LOVE my project, but please do leave a comment to tell me what you think, below or on my blog!

Many thanks to Bibi for having me here today, it's always a pleasure as well as an honour to grace this wonderful blog!

Awesome, Craftyfield!! It's really nice to see one of Trish's images in combination with my own stamps. I LOVE your background - so full of texture. Just FAB! Love the colours, too! There are so many lovely details in that background, I keep scrolling back up to look again and again. I also the face stamped inside on of the flowers. Great idea to turn the lid of a box into a canvas like this.
Thank you SO much for guest designing once again. Love your work! ♥
Wow absolutely love this, a complete stunner!!

Wow, this is fantastic - I just happen to have two cardboard boxes that I use to keep art stuff in, I'm thinking this would be a fantastic idea to take inspiration from, thanks so much. Rachel x
