“Home is not a Place” by Angie Coomber

Image
Hello arty friends, How are you? I have been playing with my set of Happy Place stamps lately and here’s what I made for you. First I stamped my house onto some watercolour paper.  I coloured the image in using watercolours. Next I added some shading using water soluble pencils and a water brush, then cut out the image. I used a background stamp on a piece of gelli print,  cut it out and glued this and the coloured image onto a vintage book page. I embossed a quote at the bottom of the book page, then cut the page into a smaller rectangle and matted it onto a piece of red card. I also used a paper punch to create some hearts from the same piece of card and glued them onto the card.  Finally I glued the whole thing onto a white card. I hope you like it! Until next time, hugs from Angie x Stamps used: Happy Place Pencil Marks #1

A Card for all Occasions by Samantha Read

Image
Hello, Samantha here today and I'm sharing a quick and easy card which with an added appropriate sentiment would be suitable for just about any occasion. I began by making the background using watercolours, simple lines, blobs, splats and some pale text for extra detail. I then stamped the wonderful leaves from the Sketchy Leaves stamp set directly to the card when thoroughly dry and again on white card, this I coloured using watercolours and cut out the leaves and adhered in place. Super quick and super easy but I think it's really pretty. Here's the stamp sets I used: Sketchy Leaves and Mix a Sentiment #1  For lots more inspiration and fun please join us at the Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge on Facebook, right here . Thanks so much for looking, have a wonderful, Sam :)

"Staycation" Postcard by Angie Coomber

Image
Hello arty friends, How are you all? We are having very strange, mixed weather in this part of the world, quite a lot of rain and not very summery at all. Which got me thinking about how different holidays are for a lot of us at the moment, so I created a "Staycation" postcard. I have a set of blank watercolour postcards which I used for this.  I used the Happy Place stamp set to stamp some images on watercolour paper.  I used watercolours to colour some of these in and used coloured pencils to add some shading. Next I used one of the stamps from the Pencil Marks #1 set, embossing ink and clear embossing powder to add some texture to the background, followed by Oxide Inks in shades of blue & green. I wiped over the whole postcard with a piece of kitchen towel to make the white embossed area stand out, then stamped some gold stars on the dark blue area. Finally  I glued the houses onto the card (I cut off and rearranged some of the trees), and used an old alphabe...

"Collage fodder" by Angie Coomber

Image
Hello arty friends, how are you? I've been very much inspired by all the collage fodder posts popping up on Instagram lately so I thought I would have a go at making some. Collage fodder really just means ready made embellishment pieces to use in your art. It's also great for using up all the bits and pieces we have laying around! I started off by white embossing on a piece of watercolour paper using a variety of background stamps. I cut this paper into different sized tags and then used watercolours to create simple backgrounds. As you can see, the white embossing creates a lovely resist. I then used leftover bits and pieces from previous projects to add interest. Next I added some background stamping, this time using black ink. and finally, some focal images.  These little pieces of art are really useful when you're art journaling, junk journaling, need to make a quick card or a tag. You can always add some writing, a quote, some doodling - whatever you feel like or need...

Ride The Wave by Samantha Read

Image
Hello, Samantha here with you today and I'd like to share this decorative home decor hanging with you. To me it's both serene and action packed at the same time, the sky looks all peaceful then the energy of those waves is quite a contrast. I made it using just a piece of cardboard that I cut in to a circle. The wave was created using a stencil and texture paste. The background and wave were painted using acrylic paints and the whale, his spouting water and the moon and stars were stamped on white card, coloured with distress inks and watercolours and glued in place. I had great fun creating this scene and added lots of white finishing touches using white paint through a fine line applicator. I was so tempted to add some sparkle but managed to resist! He looks so happy! I do hope you like it, thanks so much looking, Sam x Here are the stamps I used: Whale Wishes and Celestial  Do join in the fun on Facebook at the Rubber Dance Stampers Lounge here !

ATB Butterflies and Bee by Samantha Read

Image
Hello, Samantha here today and I'm sharing with you an Artist Trading Block using lots of wonderful Rubber Dance stamps. I used six sets in total but I think it shows brilliantly how all the different sets can be so versatile and work fantastically together.  As I was making this Spring had started to arrive and in my head that took me to days of better weather and time spent outdoors enjoying all that nature has to offer, except pollen! Atchoo! I had also had some of these ATB's in my art room for so long I thought it was time to use them, they may be a new addiction. Thankfully the ATB's were flat packed so just a little gluing and they're ready to go. The one I used for this project was just under 3inches square. I used black gesso around the edges, this really makes the finished squares really pop when glued on. I got organised and stamped all the images and die cut extra components. Using Distress Inks I used the spritz and smoosh technique to create the colour of ...
