Butterfly Trio by Dot Leathbridge


I've been so inspired by the beautiful tags that I see that I've decided to turn my new journal book (it's only a small one) into a tag book.  The idea is to have a journal of new ideas and different techniques without having to make a major project.
And there is no time like the present to start it off. 

My inspiration for this tag comes through the Butterfly Trio stamp set.
I love how there are the different sizes and you can colour them any way that you want to.



The background is made after watching a you-tube video by Melina Dahl on using the Gelli-plate with Distress Oxides.

The butterflies were simply stamped onto a scrap piece of Distress Oxide background and cut out.



A little extra stamping with oxides using the Round In Circles, A Little Birdie and Merry Magpie finished off the background.
And the words are from the Something Wonderful set.  I love how uplifting the words are.

I think that you can make a really effective tag just by using up your scrap card, or experiments, and adding some beautiful stamps over the top.

Oh - and a tip - when your matting may not be quite as straight as you like,
 then just add some stitching with a white gel pen, it's a great camouflage ;)

This tag is SO beautiful, Dot! I love Your background and these butterflies is absolutley gorgeous. Thank you for showing you tag and the reminder of the Distress Oxide technique. Great idea to use a art journal for a tag book. I have a lots of tags laying around, maybe I should gather them in a art journal.

Gorgeous tag, Dot! Great idea to make a tag technique journal! Love the background you made, and these butterflies are always so beautiful, both with and without colouring, and stamping them on a scrap piece with inks like this looks really nice! Blog Hoppin' Superpowers

Rubber Dance has gained a following of stampers that love our Sarcasm Superpowers sentiment stamps. These aren't exactly our best seller stamps (not very surprisingly), but if you love them, you'll LOVE them! Tutorial Tuesday - A Mini Album by Sue

Good morning and happy Tuesday, it's Sue here with my tutorial for my very easy to make mini album. Here's the front and here's the back.   I started by cutting the pages for my album. I've used the Eileen Hull passport die as I think this is a fab size. Plenty of room for your images but not so big as to be intimidating. I've used chipboard for my covers, and a mixture of black, white, and watercolour card for the pages.   I've used canvas for the binding as this is really tough and flexible. I've inked it up with Distress Inks just using the primary colours, that way where they meet they will make new colours and not mud. I know you probably know this but it took me years of mud before I really got it!   Just look at the size of this Music  stamp, it's a real whopper! Altered Chipboard Butterfly + Giveaway

Bibi here today with a fun project, using the Totem Monarch Poppet chipboard from EyeConnect Crafts . I had such a blast with this and I hope what I've made will inspire you to make something similar. The difference between the chipboards from EyeConnect Crafts and others ones I've seen out there, is that they are made to connect (hence the name). There are two categories, one called Lace-Ups which you bind together using ribbons, string, lace, etcetera and another category of chipboards with smaller holes so you can connect the pieces using tiny eyelets or brads. This is what it looks like. The pieces are laser cut, and you easily remove them from the base - save that part and use it as a stencil for another project.
