Awesome birthday - Mixed Media Tag by Melina

Hello!

It`s Melina here, and today I share this birthday tag with you.


I started by go wild with my Distress oxides on a tag. 
Lots of different layers. One of the background stamps I used is Grungy Harlequin.
When dry I stamped my quote from the Happy Birthday stamp set.


I grabbed my Beautiful Bugs stamp set and stamped once directly on the tag to get the details, 
and once more on a scrap piece of paper.


I cut the bodys of the bugs out and coloured them with Distress crayons. I used them as watercolours and applied them with a waterbrush. I wanted the colouring on the bugs to be very subtle, as my background is very busy.


I glued my bugs in place and added the finishing touches. A black line around the tag, white highlights on some of the letters and the bees and wink of Stella glitter on the wings.




My tag is finished!

CASology Challenge #213: Stitch - Card by Bibi

The cue word at the CASology challenge this week is STITCH, so without further ado - here's my card: Stamps used (all from Rubber Dance): Giraffe , Mannequin from Sew Sweet ,  X stitches from Stitch & Frame . Stamped with Archival Ink (coffee), coloured in with Distress inks (tea dye and mermaid lagoon). After all, fall/autumn is all around us (here in the north, anyway), and we do love its glorious colours! We hope you do, too, when you create an entry (or three) for our October Challenge: Did you know that "fall" is an Old English word? It replaced the word 'harvest' in the early 1600s as more people started moving into cities. City dwellers began to use the phrase 'fall of the leaf'' and, over time, the phrase was shortened to fall. Surprisingly, etymologists don’t know where the word "autumn" comes from. It was used as far back at the 1300s (by Chaucer), and Shakespeare often used the word, too.
