Mixed media tags with Magicals by Melina

Image
Hello! It´s Melina here today sharing two co-hoo-hooo-lourful tags with you. The background is watercolour paper where I have played with Lindy´s Magicals  and That´s Crafty stencils. I blended the Magicals with water in spray bottles, and sprayed through different stencils. I stamped Mama Owl on a piece of Gelli printed paper and cut her out. I did some background stamping with Rubber Dance Old Book Page and I stamped the word Dream from Rubber Dance Affirmations stamp set.  I also made some marks using white and black Posca pens. I stamped Rubber Dance Owl Do Good on a piece of Gelli printed watercolour paper with very  pale colours, and cut them out. For this tag I used the branch from the Mama Owl stamp set for the background stamping. The word Dare is from the Affirmations stamp set. I want spring now and need colour, colour and colour! Thanks you so much for stopping by today and hope you got some inspiration...

Christmas cards with poinsettias made out of stamped leaves

Image
Hello! It´s Melina here today with some Christmas card inspiration. Can you believe it´s soon Christmas!? I can´t... Here´s what I did: I used the leave stamps from Crazy Flowers #1 and Crazy Flowers #2 . I stamped them and heat embossed the images using both silver and gold embossing powder. Then I had some serious fussy cutting to do! I punched out three small circles as a base for the flowers and started to glue the leaves  down in layers, going from the bigges to the smallest in the middle. I finally glued some mini beads in the center and splashed some white paint onto my poinsettias. Here are my finished cards. Autumnal Cards - Embossing Resist with Watercolours

Image
Hello! It´s Melina here today with a card tutorial for you,  using the wonderful I Love Leaves stamp set. Here´s what I did: I stamped some different leaves from the stamp set onto watercolour paper and  embossed them with gold embossing powder. I did the same thing on a card panel, also watercolour paper, but this time  I stamped the same leaf several times.  I used watercolours from Prima and Winsor & Newton. For this card I went for a background with cold colours to make a striking contrast against the warm colours of the leaves that I´m planning to make. For the second card I´m planning to cut the leaves out, so I´m not really  bothered to colour them inside the lines. When the blue colour of my first card is totally dry,  I continue to colour the leaves in. When the watercolour on the leaves is dry, I give the leaves a gentle rub with a dry cloth  to take any extra pigment of...

Birthday card, and some tips using unmounted stamps - process video

Image
Hello! It´s Melina here today sharing a little video on how I use my unmounted rubber stamps. I have a lot of rubber stamps and I use them all unmounted and find them just as  easy as clear stamps to use. Maybe someone thinks that rubber stamps need to be mounted? If you are new to rubber stamping I hope you´ll find this video helpful :) A few days ago Rubber Dance released Crazy Flowers #1 and Crazy Flowers #2 . I designed these with art journaling and mixed media usability in mind. Today I will share  a card I made with my stamped images from the video. I coloured some of the stamped images with watercolour pencils and a waterbrush. All the images on this card are from Crazy Flowers #1 . I used Distress Oxide Black soot for the background - both smudged onto  my craft mat and picked up on the paper, and also stamped directly to the paper. I fussy cut my flowers. I assembled my my card and added a little Wink of ...

Quick and easy CAS cards by Melina

Image
Hello! Melina here today with some really quick and easy cards!  I needed some "for all occasions" cards in my stash, so I made all these seven cards at the same time. I started by taping watercolour paper to my craft matt.  I wanted a sharp, white boarder outside my coloured area. I applied Distress oxide ink and used a different colour for some splashes. I stamped my images with the tape still on. Here they are with the tape removed - sharp white boarders as I wanted. Then I just stamped different sayings on my cards from the Beautiful Words stamp set, backed them with pattern papers and glued to my card bases. Done! That was quick and easy, right?
