CASology #209: Watercolor - by Bibi
When I saw that this week's challenge at CASology was watercolour, I knew right away that I wanted to join! I love colouring stamped images with watercolours, and I had just received one of Trish Latimer's new stamps that I was eager to use.
My watercoloured CAS card, featuring Whimsygirl #3:
I stamped the Whimsygirl on smooth watercolour paper with black waterproof ink.
I placed a few drops of ink from Distress Sprays Stains on my watercolour mixing tray and coloured her hair and leggings with Twisted Citron, her dress and hair ribbons with Picked Raspberry, skin with diluted Tea Dye, and finally added some pink cheeks using the Picked Raspberry again.
After the paint was completely dry, I placed a negative mask over the dress so I could add some flowers and stars (both from Rubber Dance's Textured Flowers), and repeated the stars above her head. The text (from For the Birds) was stamped on a piece of watercolour paper and popped up with foam dots underneath.
Please note: If you want your artwork to last forever, I would not recommend using Distress Spray Stains as they are not colourfast. My card is not going to hang on the wall being exposed to daylight, but for watercolour paintings intended for framing, I always choose professional watercolours of a well known brand so I know the colours won't fade with time.
I'm entering my card to the CASology watercolour challenge.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Love,
Bibi
