Da Vinci Triptych by Katy


Promised I would show you how I created the papers for this triptych featuring Da Vinci stamp set from Rubber Dance. So here we go!

I aged my own paper using totally natural dyes; here's how:

Step 1: Stamp images in Archival or other waterproof ink onto ordinary copier paper. Steep a teabag in hot water and when it has cooled a little, wipe the teabag over the paper. Apply fairly randomly. Allow to dry at least partially.

Step 2: Squeeze a lemon to get some juice. Take up the juice with a paintbrush and flick the lemon juice onto the tea-stained paper. Also add some larger areas with the brush.

Step 3: Heat the paper - you may need to heat it for some time to get the juice to 'burn'. You can see here that the light spatters bleach out the tea and the larger areas burn to create 'aged' splotches. This is a great way to age paper that uses items everyone has at home. 

Step 4: The Triple Arch frame (which is by Tando Creative) is embossed using Rubber Dance's Flourishes background stamp in gold UTEE. I then sprayed the frame with various colours of Distress Stain Spray to colour it and finished by knocking back the gold with a bronze gilding wax.

The easel is also sprayed with the Distress Spray Stains - these rock - you need them!

After all, fall/autumn is all around us (here in the north, anyway), and we do love its glorious colours! It replaced the word 'harvest' in the early 1600s as more people started moving into cities. Easel Card With Textured Flowers

Hello.  Welcome.  Gail from the design team here today with a project using the new Textured Flowers stamps.  I loved these the moment I saw them.  Big beautiful blooms.  And many small er stamps for adding leaves and texture.   I decided to make a Twisted Easel Card.  There are many tutorials available but I used this one by Lois.  So here's my card using Textured Flowers and of course, a giraffe .......... I was inspired by the Rubber Dance challenge colours which for June are: I stamped the large simple daisy, masked and stamped two more.  I added the giraffe from African Animals .  I think I'll call her Daisy. I thought it looked a bit empty so I stamped more daisies...... and coloured with distress and d y e inks.  I stamped and embossed three of the doodled flowers and the giraffe, fussy cut and added them to my panel.  I used brads and a Cheery Lynn die cut for the flower centers.  I also doodled a little faux stitching
