Technique Thursday - Stenciling, Dot
Hi everyone, I hope that all is well in your part of the world.
The first thing that I've done is to get some colour onto my card. Simple swiping through some brown distress inks from my craft sheet that had been sprayed with a little water. The paper had some blistering from the water which I quite liked.
Because of the bark look, I used my shattered glass stencil (TH) as it reminds me of spider webs. I'm farm-sitting at the moment and every time I grab some wood for the fire I check for spiders. I know, I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spiders. I've only added it to the areas where there was already some colour so that it looks like it is part of the bark. The same inks were used as what I made the bark with so that it has a tone-on-tone look.
Tip: I use either the mini blending tool or sponges when I use ink through stencils as it gives me a cleaner (crisper) stencilled look.
The leaves are from Twiggy Leaves and adds a nice natural feel with the bark - in my mind bark falls from trees and trees have leaves so they go together. The Twiggy Leaves set is fast becoming one of my favourite sets to use.
A single leaf finishes the background. I've stamped it off onto a sheet of paper first so that I have a more faded image. Technical term - second generation stamping.
The mushies are the Funny Fungi stamp. Simply stamped and cut out.
Because I wanted the detail of the bits on top of the mushroom and the little mushrooms at the bottom, I've stamped this onto my card so that I didn't have to go to all the trouble of cutting them out.
To finish I've attached the Funny Fungi, roughed up the edge of the card and inked it and then matted and layered it onto come card. Oh and a few splatts because I couldn't stop playing.
There are so many fun ways to use stencils. I hope you enjoyed this one and how I thought it through.
Thanks for stopping by,
