Tartantags by Artatag
Hello, dear friends of Rubber Dance! My name is Gabriele from Art-a-tag and I am a Mixed Media artist from Germany. I would like to invite you to the next step of our wonderful journey using the fantastic Rubber Dance stamps.
Have you seen, that there is a colour challenge again going on, where you can win a pile of stamps?? The colours to be used are gold, red and green and (optional) a stencil somewhere in the artwork. Well, this is just down my alley!!! I love this classic Christmas colour combo and I love to use stencils, as they help creating a wonderful background or finish.
This time I decided to create some tags and the matching ribbons I found in my stash were Tartan patterns. Perfect!! So we got Tartantags by Artatag! Sounds a bit silly and is not really true, as only the ribbons are Tartans.
I used ordinary shipping tags, 8x16 cm and applied acrylic paint with an old plastic credit card, they are nice and flexible. With a stencil I made some background patterns in green and gold
On some backgrounds the visibility of the stamped text was not too good, so I wrote with white ink on top and now it is not really popping, but better. As I did not have a golden inkpad I used acrylic paint for the larch twigs in the background. As I needed some eyecatcher I cut out a little heart in red, the same colour than the background.
Here I learned from my Design Team friends and ordered some embossing powder in white and here you see my first tries with that cool stuff. My goodness that really stands out from the background, I will be using that more in future I think. I love it! I embossed the pine twig and the sentiment.
On this tag I stamped the larch twig and the pine cones in gold acrylics (the gold does not show very well) and embossed the text. When I was done I realized that I should have paid more attention to Helen Allen´s tutorials, where she uses this cute little brush to clean the piece before heating. All the access powder is now sticking to the tag. Helen, the next time I will use a little brush myself!
For this one I stamped the sentiment with Archival ink black on a separate piece of watercolour paper covered with Vermillion Red and cut it out with one of those funny scissors that make all kinds of border patterns. This Vermillion Red really is a strong colour!!
