The Curious Cat - Mixed Media Card Tutorial by Dot

Hi everyone,
I hope you are having a crafty start to 2019.
The Curious Cat kept wanting me to play, so I have a tutorial for you
using this gorgeous stamp.

Grab your cuppa,
and join me for a look at how playing with stuff can be soooo much fun.

This is the finished card.

and here is how we get there ...

Step 1:
I've scraped a layer of white gesso over a card base. Then I've used DecoArt paints in a light blue and white to layer up the background. A little finger painting! You could do as little or as much as you like ... just layering one colour on top of the other.  It's really quite relaxing.

Step 2:
I got my brayer out and added some darker blue mainly around the edges.

Step 3:
I've stamped the gorgeous Curious Cat onto some tissue paper.  Then on the back side I painted some white paint - when you turn the tissue paper over again to the front, you can see how the white shows through.

Step 4:
I then attached the tissue paper carefully to the background with gel medium.
I've also added a little more white paint to the background to tone the dark blue colour down. I needed some slightly lighter areas for some leaves.

Step 5:
This is where I've stamped some leaves into the top corner and the bottom corner covering the cat a little. I've used archival ink for this.

Step 6:
I painted the leaves with white paint.  Then I've gone in with a little grey distress crayons for light shading on the leaves.  I wanted to keep in tune with the colour challenge this month over on our facebook page.

One of the finishing touches is to add some words.
I've gone with these words from 'Giraffe'.

And a close up of the Curious Cat.
