A Cat For All Seasons

Image
Hello Rubber Dance friends.  Gail here today with another card featuring the very gorgeous Curious Cat .  This time he's all orange and green!!!! I made my card base from a piece of green grungy diamond designer card.  I used library green archival ink to stamp the border from Doodle Borders 2, which I think looked a bit like a cat's eye, and the birthday sentiment from the Happy Birthday set.  I also edged the card with the same green ink.  I stamped Curious Cat on a piece of neon green card and embossed with orange embossing powder.  I added some white gel pen highlights, fussy cut and added him to the card.   Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you feel inspired to get out your stamps and create.  Join the fun and link up your makes using Rubber Dance stamps in the Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge .  And d on't forget to check out the Rubber Dance webshop .  There are a selection of stamps on special offer so hop over and grab yourse...

Quick Card and Tag Set With Curious Cat

Image
Hello Rubber Dance friends.  Gail here today.  Hope you are weathering these strange times well and taking comfort from your crafty hobby.  Maybe like me you have been investigating some of those less visited corners of your stash and found a few forgotten gems.  I've used some very old but lovely DCWV papers and made a quick card with Rubber Dance's Curious Cat stamp. I started with some DCWV Pet Stack papers.  These are very thick and great fun with lots of cat and dog theme patterns.  I actually have a bag of all the scraps from these and picked two which I layered together. I used a dark green card base and cut the layered scraps with a square stitch die.  Then I stamped and fussy cut Curious Cat using black archival ink on white card.  I added a line of pale green rhinestone gems. I still had some scraps of the green and the patterned layers so I used a stitch tag die and cut them both.  Then I used my cra...

The Curious Cat - Mixed Media Card Tutorial by Dot

Image
Hi everyone, I hope you are having a crafty start to 2019. The Curious Cat kept wanting me to play, so I have a tutorial for you using this gorgeous stamp. Grab your cuppa, and join me for a look at how playing with stuff can be soooo much fun. This is the finished card. and here is how we get there ... Step 1: I've scraped a layer of white gesso over a card base. Then I've used DecoArt paints in a light blue and white to layer up the background. A little finger painting! You could do as little or as much as you like ... just layering one colour on top of the other.  It's really quite relaxing. Step 2: I got my brayer out and added some darker blue mainly around the edges. Step 3: I've stamped the gorgeous Curious Cat onto some tissue paper.  Then on the back side I painted some white paint - when you turn the tissue paper over again to the front, you can see how the white shows through. Step 4: I then ...

A Curious Cat - Inking Tutorial by Dot

Hi everyone, are you ready for Christmas yet? I think my shopping is done ... I think. My mum's birthday is on Boxing Day ... so my thoughts are turning to her. It's a great time because we just keep on celebrating for days lol. This month at Rubber Dance we have a colour challenge using grey, pink and teal.  Or the theme of Embossing. You will find the challenge over on our facebook group . Today I've a tutorial for you using Distress Inks and Oxides.  Curious Cat has come out to play and I hope you see how easy a little bit of stamping can be. Here we go ... Step 1: Blend Distress Oxides onto your card.  It doesn't need to be perfect. We'll be adding more to the background so it will be well hidden. The oxides have a beautiful softness to them which looks great on white card. Step 2:  My teal colour in the inks came from Evergreen Bough. I've twisted a little onto my craft sheet, beaded up with a little water, and dabbed onto b...
