Christmas Carol Votive by Katy
Here's how:
1) Take two plastic dessert cups (from supermarket desserts - never throw anything away LOL). Stamp two lengths of cream vellum with gold acrylic paint the Rubber Dance Music stamp. Add a length of tinsel ribbon around the top and bottom of vellum, matching the join to where the vellum joins.
2) Paint an MDF plaque with gold paint, stamp with the pine leaves from Pines Fir Yew in black and trim with tinsel ribbon.
3) Die cut two carol singers and add them to the plastic cups, covering the joins in the vellum/ribbon with the die cuts. Stamp Merry Christmas (RD Christmas Greetings) and surround with pine leaves stamped in gold. Cut into a banner and edge with gold paint and gold glitter.
6) Stick everything onto the plaque. Glue the greeting at a slight angle using silicone glue. Add battery operated tealights to complete.
Top Tips:
Vellum can react badly to heat so I used paint to stamp with as it will dry on vellum without the need to heat set.
Because the pots are plastic and the whole assemblage is rather flammable I would only use battery tealights, never a naked flame. If you want to use real candles, use a glass container and don't use die cuts which protrude above the top edge of the candle container.
The die cuts effectively cover the joins in the vellum and ribbon, so the finish looks really neat and the joins are much less visible.
