October Colour Challenge - Vintage Tones

Welcome to the Rubber Dance Monthly Art Stamping Challenge!

Our challenge is all about colour! Each month we bring you a gorgeous colour scheme to kick-start your muse.

Both our winner and Pick of the Month will get badges to proudly display on their blogs. Winners will be announced on our blog on the 7th of the following month, so remember to check back to see if you won!

  • We'll draw an overall WINNER at random who receives an anamazing grab bag of unmounted Rubber Dance stamps worth 25 Euro! (that's over $30!)
  • The Design Team will choose our favourite entry - our DT Pick of the Month.
  • Any entries using Rubber Dance stamps will get a special mention!

For October our colours are beautifully vintage - step back in time with sepia tones and shades of brown.

Please take a quick look at the rules below before you create. Don’t worry, there aren't many rules and they are not complicated.

Need some inspiration? Check out these examples from our fabulous Design Team!

Made by Bibi: I have been playing with stencils and modelling paste, Crystal Flower die cuts, ink sprays and Distress ink. Most of the Crystal flowers were cut out from vintage book pages, and one is stamped with old script - all colored with Distress inks.  All stamps are from our new Collage Mix collection.

Made by Gabriele: The background of this 10x15 cm card is monoprinted on the Gelli Plate with acrylic paint. I used stamps from the DAV1-L: Da Vinci sheet with Distress Ink - Walnut Stain and NP5-M: Weed Love with Distress ink - Wild Honey. That dark brown snippet underneath the portrait is self printed paper. The portrait was stamped (also Da Vinci sheet) on a used teabag with Archival ink Sepia. The portrait was attached to the card with bakers twine.

Made by Majo: I used stamps from the new DAV1-L: Da Vinci sheet to simple stamp the main focal image, placing her behind a die cut window. The card is finished with hearts that look like they are 'growing' from the window box and a sentiment.

Made by Katy: I used TR1-L: Travel and BK1-RG: Collage Elements 1 stamp sets to create a vintage tag for this challenge. My background is stamped with the world image and layered with pages from an old map. Alongside various stamped images from the sets I used some bits of Tim Holtz ephemera. I crumpled and dog-eared some of the stamped images to make them look 'aged'.

Made by Irit: I used the new DAV1-L: Da Vinci set and Music and Script backgrounds and made my background with a Gelli Plate.

Made by Olga: Hello dear readers! We are so glad to see you here at our new October colour challenge :) Let's create together! I made this new autumn card for your inspiration :) As you know, I love leaves and I create my cards using lots of Rubber Dance nature stamps with leaves! They are so cool! If you still don't create with them, I think that very soon you will. I used several stamps from "I Love Leaves" and "Twiggy Leaves" and the stamp with the phrase "Believe in yourself" from the "Think Again" set of stamps. I love how all this stamps look together and I also hope that you will like my card :). Wish you a very good day!

Made by Helen:  I loved this month's tone-on-tone colour palette.  It was fun to create a Travel Journal using a selection of my Rubber Dance Travel (TR1-L) and Collage Element 1 (BK1-7G) stamps.  I love the vintage look I have achieved using only shades of brown.  I used my Distress Inks to emboss maps across the top and bottom of my journal and then blended over the images to create interesting shadows around them.  Masking, masking and more masking for the central panel collaging different travel images!  Inside there are interactive pages that give you lots of scope for journaling and collecting photos and souvenirs.  If you want to see exactly how to make a Journal of your own there is a link on my blog to a step-by-step video tutorial as well as more photos of the interactive pages that are contained within.  So get out all your brown inks, paints and papers and get creative!
