CAS card by Dot

Hi everyone, I hope you have been inking up your stamps lately and having fun with your stamps? My tutorial last week showed a few techniques which I thought would be fun to use in a different way. This card repeated the torn paper style as a border for inking. It goes in a different direction on this card this time. It also shows the stamping with a stencil ... do you remember? It is where you twist some ink onto your stencil, spray with a little water then stamp it onto your card.  Dab with some paper towel so that it doesn't ooze out everywhere. The extra little tip that goes with this card is what to do when you mark the card accidentally with ink. Yes! I did that! can you see where? It is the sole reason why I splattered some ink across the card. It is a fantastic way to cover things up. It is also the reason for the words going where they are! I think it is important to not panic when something isn't quite right. Remember, there are lots of thin...

Stencil & Stamp Layers Art Journal Page with video tutorial by Gerry

Image
Hi lovely Rubber Dance friends, it's Gerry on the blog today and I have another art journal page for my mini album to share. I did some easy multi colour layering with Distress Oxide inks, Rubber Dance stamps and a Tim Holtz Stencil. On this page I did another way of layering with stamps and a stencil this time and all these techniques or a page like this can also be used on a card. Be sure to watch today's video to see all techniques in action. I used Distress Oxides Ink Spun Sugar, Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean to colour the background with the Tim Holtz - Layering Stencil - Tiles. I stamped the Grungy Butterfly  with Nuvo Embossing ink and heat embossed it with Nuvo Embossing Powder Jet Black. I used Distress Oxide Black Soot with a  Nuvo Nylon Brush to colour the butterfly. I used the Old Book Page stamp  to add texture through the stencil. This gives a fun and subtle texture and some black accents as con...

Wrapped Canvas by GDT Gabrielle

Image
Hi Rubber Dance Universe, this is Gabriele from Cologne Germany. I'm a mixed media artist and proud to be the August Rubber Dance guest designer.   Today I made a 5 x 5 cm wrapped canvas as a gift to put into happy mail using the Grungy Butterflies stamp set   First I glued down tissue paper and a punched black cardboard circle.      I coloured the tissue with blue and sand watercolour and stamped a butterfly on mixed media paper.      I used a leaf primer pen randomly on the wings to put some gold leaf on them.     After swiping the excess gold leaf away with a soft brush I cut the butterfly out and glued it loosely onto the black circle, because I don't want it to be totally flat. I gave the wings a little bow up with my fingers for 3D effect and coloured it with watercolour.  I stamped the quote on wrinkled packing paper (to bring more sand colour in) and glued i...

Something Wonderful Card with Distress Inks by Dot

Image
Hi everyone, I hope that you are all having a crafty few days. It's my turn to take you through a tutorial and this time we are looking at a few of my favourite things to do. I had a friend in mind while making this one.  She is going through a particularly hard time. We all know someone like that don't we? So this is something up-lifting to help keep her spirits up. Are you ready for the tutorial? Grab a cuppa and here we go ... Step 1:  The last thing to go onto the card is the very first thing I did.  Using Small Grungy Butterflies stamp some images onto an old book page.  I found this book at a used book shop many years ago and found the print in it a nice size for me. Step 2:   Tear some photo copy paper so that it has a jaggered edge and pop it onto some white card.  Ink up the open space with light blue Distress Ink. Darken around the edges and along the torn bit. Step 3:   With the photo ...

New page in my Happy Journal with Grungy Butterflies

Image
Hello lovely Rubber Dancer, it´s  Evelyn  here today! It´s time for a new page in my Happy Journal. This time I wanted to create a summery page with my beloved Grungy Butterflies . I started by glueing down pieces of old book pages here and there, then I prepared my pages with a coat of white Gesso. When everything was dry, I used a stencil and Texture paste to create some texture and dimension. I colored the background with prima artalchemy Metallique acrylic paints from Finnabair in Dark Velvet, Vintage Rose, Mermaid Teal and Emerald Green.  When everything was dry, I started with my background stamping. I used grey Archival ink and stamps from Rubber Dance: Vintage Script , the little stars are from the Merry Magpie  stamp set. Next I stamped some Grungy Butterflies with Versafine Clair Nocturno on specialty stamping paper, colored them with acrylic paint in magenta and metalique Mermaid Teal. When dry, I added some doodling with a whi...
