Matchbox Book by Angie Coomber

Hi arty friends, how are you all? This time I have made a little matchbox book for you, I hope you like it. I have a Tim Holtz matchbox die so I cut a couple matchboxes first. Before assembling I coloured them with Paperartsy Infusions. I made a few but I only finished one of them here. I added some stamping with the Doodle Borders stamp set using Distress Oxide inks. I also added some gold splatter (naturally!) and gold mark making. I chose some shades of red and green/blue acrylics and painted them onto a piece of card, then stamped flowers and leaves from the Crazy Flowers set and cut them out. I also used my watercolours to do some mark making on a sheet of ledger paper, then cut a zig zag book to fit in the matchbox from a piece of card. I glued the ledger paper to both sides of the book. Next I assembled the box (I use double sided tape), then decorated both the box and the book with the leaves & flowers, and added a word sticker to the front of the box. Once you have ma...

Altered Book Page by Angie Coomber

Hello arty friends, how are you all doing?  It has been very hot in my part of the UK and I am writing this in front of a lovely cool fan - bliss! For this layout I worked in one of my altered books. I use this one for monochrome pages, so I only use black, white and a pop of colour. I really enjoy challenging myself to use this limited amount of supplies - give it a try! First I used some gel medium to glue a crumpled piece of tissue paper to my pages - this adds a lovely texture. I also added some pieces of ephmera. When this was dry I added a layer of clear gesso. I added some black mark making, black & white washi tape, and as I had decided that my additonal colour was going to be red/orange I also used washi tape in those colours. I used Colour Burst powders to create an orange background for stamping the butterflies on. Once I had stamped the butterflies and cut them out (I forgot to take a photo!) I positioned these and the picture on my pages, then glued them dow...

House Number 123 by Samantha Read

Hello, Samantha with you today and I'd like to share a journal page tutorial with you.  It's a very short tutorial because I was having so much fun and got lost in the process I forgot to take photos after a little while!  The Textured Houses stamp set was the first Rubber Dance stamp set I purchased, but I somehow don't use it as often as I'd like and it's so versatile and suitable for any time of year or occasion. I created my neutral coloured background by spritzing some distress ink with water on my craft mat and mopping up the ink with my page. Using a coffee stirrer and some sand texture paste I made a little place for my houses to be on the page. I painted the coffee stirrer to match the background colour and then stamped and embossed the house three times. Now the really fun part started and I forgot to take photos lol. Using just three bright, contrasting colours I stamped some flower and added some flowers with the...
