Rubber Dance Art Stamps - Blog

 Hi everyone, During restrictions I've really enjoyed reading more and I've  decided to make another bookmark. It's a bit like accessories, one is never enough. I like them in the shape of a tag, but you could make it any shape you like really. Every time I've been out in my car this week I've seen house after house with beautiful blossoming roses in their front yards. This has been my inspiration for my bookmark. It uses the gorgeous Blooming Rose stamp with some background marks from Mixed Media Marks 2 . The base is a scrap piece of gelli print. It was in the colours from this month's mood board so it was perfect. The gorgeous rose was painted with water colours and carefully cut out. I stamped a couple of extra buds and left them white. Around the edges I cut up some patterned paper and created a border. A few splatters of paint adds to the mixed media feel of the bookmark. Good afternoon and happy Saturday - yay for the weekend! It's Sue here and I've been using the beautiful Blossoming Rose stamp that my teamie Debs designed for Rubber Dance.   I started with a canvas that was in my 'to finish sometime never' pile. For some reason I didn't like it at the time, but it's perfect for what I need now. Then I added some DecoArt crackle paste through a stencil that Debs has also designed. I know - she's very clever isn't she!   I let the crackle dry overnight 'cos we've not seen the sun here since late September (or at least that's what it feels like).   I got busy with the paints next. I've used the quinacridone colours and lots of water.   Then I used gold through the other part of the stencil.   I made some Plaster of Paris leaves and painted them.   Then stamped and watercoloured my lovely rose and added it to the canvas along with the leaves and some chunky embossin...

Hello Everyone, Debs here with one of my How To projects, and this week it’s working on Clear Acrylic, which can be tricky, but so effective! I apologise in advance that the photos are not our usual quality due to the Clear Acrylic which reflects the lights and blurs the focus. So first, using the backboard I gave it a heavy coat of crackle paint and let it dry, then added Antiqueing Cream in Patina all over to fill in the cracks. To apply the cream,  rub in all over the surface you want filled and let it dry. Then with a damp but not wet cloth wipe it off. The idea is to leave the medium that has sunk into the cracks but wipe it off the surface. It can have a really aging effect, but is not permanent so I used a gel medium to seal it once dry. This also gave a great surface to stamp onto. Remember this is your very last surface and so acts as your background. I stamped the leaves all round the clock at the edges and then heat set it. Hello everyone Debs here with  Blossoming Rose a stamp set I designed for Rubber Dance.   I love roses, as they bring me so many memories of childhood. I would wait until the petals had started to wilt then whip off the heads  and put them into bottles with water. I would wait until the petals had given off their scent then strain off the petals to give me rose water. I thought I was  so clever making perfume, hehe!  Back to my card The paper I'm using is handmade and absorbes lots of water so you can really get the colours flowing. I stamped the Rose, heat set it, then spritzed the page with water. Using a large round watercolour brush, (mines a Sable which I love, as it holds lots of water/ pigment) I sploched a light wash of Raw Umber around the rose with touches or burnt Sienna. Hi there! I am back from holidays and a little bit shocked about the low temperature here in Germany. So I try it with warm colours today ;-) I have to share a step by step tutorial for an embossing resist greeting card with Brushos and our wonderful Blossoming Rose . Start by embossing the image randomly with Metallic Brass powder onto watercolour cardstock. Colour the images by sprinkling the Brushos onto the areas where you want them. Use water and a brush to spread the colour around. Let every area dry separately and tab off the rest of the powder before you start with the next part.  I made two different backgrounds. This is the one I used for this card: I use stitched frame dies to cut rectangles out of my background and some kraft cardstock.
