Birds Card by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hi everyone, I hope is all well in your part of the world. Today I've had a bit of fun with the Textured Birds stamp set by making a bird card. This is a one-layer card with lots of masking involved (still my favourite thing to do). Here is how this card was made. Firstly, I made some masks of the birds and letters that I'll be using. Photo copy paper is handy for this as it is thin. Simply stamp your images and then cut them out. It works beautifully when you cut to the inside of the stamped image. I made a quick template of the idea that was in my head. To see if it would work! I didn't use the smaller birds in the final make. Now I am ready to repeat it onto my cardstock. Start by stamping the image that is going to be the front image. At this stage I've masked the 'front' bird and then stamped the  letters from Alphabet Uno. I LOVE this set - you can make any word that you like! Then I masked a couple of the letters and stamped another bird so that it wil...

Art Journaling with Sketchy images and marks by Ellie Knol

Image
A good day to you.. Ellie Knol here...  I hope you are doing well!  I had a play in an Art Journal, to be true it was a challenge in my FB Dutch Art Journal group. I gave the participants one assignment per day, as prompts, and also tips to go along with it. They turned out to be 7 days of assignments.   I decided to share the days (steps) with you, why not? We had fun!   STEP 1 Optional : prime the pages with a thin layer of gesso and leave to dry.  Spray over a mask (from Magenta) with a pearl ink spray and close the journal.  Let it sit for a while, until the ink is (almost) dry.  This will give you 2 pages colored at once, mirrored coloring of course.  STEP 2 Spray the spread with a fixative, and leave to dry.  Tear music themed bookpaper and use the edges of the paper (and maybe the title of the music) to create a frame around the spread as shown. All the edges must be a torn edge. Also adhere some bookpaper with notes within t...

Simplicity Sunday - A Card by Dot

Image
Hi everyone, I've been wanting to play with the 3rd Row, Textured Houses stamps for some time. One of the first things that I noticed is how some of the houses are separated, and some are together. This means that you can use them in more ways. And for those of us that scrunch up our faces whenever we have to cut things out (it can't be just me) ... well, it doesn't get any easier than cutting triangles and rectangles.  With a little masking I was able to bunch up some of the houses. By leaving everything in black & white, and adding a little yellow, I've even managed to fit this in with the colour part of our challenge this month. I hope you have enjoyed my simple card of houses and that you remember to pop on over to the challenge, see the wonderful inspiration and maybe join in. 3rd Row Textured Houses Round In Circles ...

CAS Friday, Card by Dot

Image
Hi there! Today it's my turn for another CASual Friday post. I've used the "Take The Plunge" and "Whimsical Summer" stamp sets to make a fun Summer card. I've used a reverse mask to make a circle through which I've added colour and also stamped a sun.  The swimmer is stamped firstly onto the card itself, followed by stamping her onto some scrap card and cutting out only her body. This was then adhered to the card.  I was able to colour her arms without them being discoloured by the yellow ink in the circle. Clean and Simple! Take The Plunge Whimsical Summer Other Products: Distress Inks Versafine Ink Thank you for stopping by today. Dot x

Bonny Bunny - Dot

Image
Hi everyone, Dot here. I've been itching to have a play with the Bonny Bunny stamp set since I first saw it! I thought I would share a step by step on an alcohol ink card that I made using this set. When playing with alcohol inks you need some shiny cardstock, alcohol inks, blending solution and a blending tool with a thin felt pad. Put some alcohol ink onto your felt and dab around till you have covered your card.  I've used honeycomb, caramel and espresso.  You can get some real interesting effects with the ink as it dries. Pour a little blending solution onto the background, let sit then dry.  It bleaches out!  I did this about three times and discovered some very interesting effects. I decided to black emboss the bunny - but it really wasn't necessary though.  Plain stamping would have done to be honest.  If you have a go at this, and decide to do some plain stamping, use archival and dry with a heat tool.  Archival...

Magpie Treasure - Dot

Image
Hi everyone, I've been so keen to play with this gorgeous Merry Magpie stamp set by Melina Dahl.  There are so many interesting little bits in this set to play with. I've put together a step by step guide for you if you would like to give it a go... Stamp the magpie in the center of your card.  I've used slightly larger card than I need so that I can trim it down later.  I've also used Stazon ink for the stamping. Add some masking fluid to the magpie and jewel so that they stay white after the ink is added. Swipe some distress ink onto a large acrylic block.  I've used broken china, peacock feathers and salty ocean.  Spritz with a little water till it beads up and then press this over the stamped images.  I then cleaned the block and added a little chipped sapphire ink to the edges of the block, spritzed it again and re-stamped over the first layer of colour. Swipe some peacock feathers distress ink over a stencil. I...
