New Birds and Flowers by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hi everyone. we have had the most glorious Spring weather in Australia over the past couple of weeks. Lots of birds being very busy and flowers starting to show us how beautiful they are. That was my inspiration for today's mixed media card. The new stamps from Rubber Dance are now my favourite! And these gorgeous Sketchy Birds are just brilliant. Susanne, you have nailed it. I've got a few process steps for you which shows you how this card was created. The first thing was to choose my stamps. I've used stamps from Sketchy Birds and Sketchy Flowers #3 They were stamped onto white card and cut out with a thin white border around each image. Seeing as I had Spring in mind, I've used pink, white  and umber paint on my gel plate. Before taking the print I used a flower from  Sketchy Flowers #3 to stamp onto the wet paint. Then I pulled the print. Now you might be thinking that it looks a little patchy? It was perfect for what I had in mind. All I wanted was a quick bac...

Playful Penguin Card by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hi everyone. One of the good things to come out of the pandemic is the reinforcement of how so very special our friends are. So this card is for all our friends, near and far. Would you like to see how it was made? I have a step x step for you. And I made a little discovery that  uses masking (my favourite technique) but on a gel plate this time. The baby penguin, from Playful Penguins ,  is the first thing to be stamped. Mask off the baby penguin, stamp the mom, masking off again. Then stamp the moon from Celestial and the floating ice sheets from Playful Penguins . It's surprising how many stamps are in this set. I stamped the waves once, then masked the top of it so that I could add the seal. I wanted it to look like he is popping up out of the water to say hello. The seal is then masked and more waves are added around him to create the sea. This is where my happy little discovery happens. I wanted to have the reflection of the moon in the water. I decided to use my g...

Clean and Simple Birthday with Sketchy Flowers and Inky Friends

Image
Hello Rubber Dance fans.  Gail here today with a clean and simple birthday card featuring Rubber Dance Sketchy Flowers 2 and one of the Inky Friends butterflies.  I used a slightly textured cream card base and stamped the butterfly slightly off the card edge with black archival ink.  Then I masked it and stamped the flower cluster with Prickly Pear archival for a soft look.  I watercoloured with blue and green distress inks.  The card base wasn't totally happy with the water, but I placed a heavy book on it just before it was totally dry and it straightened out quite nicely.  To finish I stamped the Happy Birthday with Library Green archival.  Again, a little softer look that the black.   Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you feel inspired to get out your stamps and create.   Join the fun and link up your makes using Rubber Dance stamps in the Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge .  See you there!!! Don't forget to check out the...

I used the stamps    I Heart Art, Round in Circles , Mixed Media Marks ,   Mix a Sentiment 1 , Beautiful Words and Inky Friends   I  made a background with acrylic paint, putting some drops and smeared the paint out with my brayer.       After that I used some stamps, and made some motives and I made some gelliprints.   I made some marks with the stamps from Mixed Media Marks. After that I cutted out my backgrounds and glued them on white cards.            And I embossed the hearts with white powder and colored them with watercolors. At last I finished the cards with the butterflies, hearts and sentiments.    The stamps I used:    Beautiful Words   Round in Circles Mixed Media Marks Mix a Sentiment 1 Beautiful Words Inky Friends  I Hea...
