Let It Snow - How to decorate a MDF Shrine with Stamps

Image
Hi everyone, It's Donna here today with a decorated shrine featuring some of the new  Whimsical Winter  stamps. I used an MDF   That's Crafty! shrine  which looks like this before it's assembled. So it was time to set about giving the front of the shrine a coat of the very yummy  That's Crafty! sand texture paste  which looks exactly like snow as you can see. The next step was to add a bit of sparkle to it using a glittery paint. I do apologise for the quality of the pictures as it's really dark here at the moment so even with all the lights on the flash still kept going off! Now to start painting the other pieces of the shrine using a lovely blue from  That's Crafty! multi surface paints . This coats beautifully in one step and is also perfect for stamping on too. Time to add a little bit of bling to the background using the snowflakes from  Whimsical Winter  and some embossing powder. ...

Challenge Reminder - Movie Makes

Image
Hi everyone! I've made this picture for our  current challenge , where the theme is to make something inspired by a movie. Can you guess which this is?   'Mr. Popper's Penguins' is an American comedy from 2011, with Jim Carrey, Carla Guino, and Angela Lansbury, among others. Mr. Popper is a real estate entrepreneur in New York who inherits six penguins from his father. As Mr. Popper transforms his luxurious apartment into a penguin friendly winter wonderland, his professional life starts to unravel.. I've used a free photo from Wikipedia Commons for my backdrop - one can see the Empire State building from Mr. Popper's apartment. My "window" is a mini printer tray from Tando Creative, which I painted white. The snow on the window frames are mini art stones and glitter glue. It's really blingy in real life, like a thousand dimonds on glittery snow, but this was impossible to caputure on camera - so I edited my photo by...

Live With Passion - Stamping and Alcohol inks - Tutorial

Image
Good morning and happy Friday, it's Sue here and I'm happy to be sharing something that I've not used in ages - microscope slides. I started by choosing some strong shades of alcohol ink and colouring the slides. Then I gave them all a second coat to build up the depth of colour. They look so good after the second coat. There's no blending fluid used, the colours just mottle by themselves. For the stamping, I used my Tim Holtz platform as I wanted to be able to re-stamp if the image wasn't strong enough. As it happens it was perfect first time which is all down to the quality of the stamp! I used Potting Soil Archival. It has to be Archival ink for this technique, but any colour will do. You just wait a few seconds for the ink to dry, then rub with a soft cloth, and the Archival ink removes the alcohol ink the reveal the pattern of the stamp. Can you see the beautiful large butterfly from Butterfly Trio ? I love how the wh...

Christmas Bunny

Image
Hi everyone, It's Donna here today with  Bonny Bunny  who looks to be getting into the Christmas spirit already! I took a 6x6 Kraft card and cut a little bit off it to make it narrower. Next up was the fun of using some  Sizzix Dies  for the snowflakes and also one for the 'falling snow' effect you can see in the background of the card. I popped a little bit of  stickles  onto to the snowflakes to add a bit of sparkle to them. So then it was time to stamp up  Bonny Bunny  on a piece of  Strathmore Mixed Media paper  and colour in with my beloved Zig Clean Colour pens. I just had to add a touch of red glitter to his nose too! The Santa hat was hand drawn and again coloured with the Zig pens, I added some white puffy paint which when you put heat on it puffs up nicely...that's why it's called puffy paint of course!! I adhered bunny with his hat to the card background and added a sentiment from  Tim Holtz . The snowflak...
