Sketchy Flowery Heart shapes by Ellie Knol

Image
Remember this "Art Journaling with Sketchy images and marks" post?  I used the images with the black heat embossing on the journal spread in that post. As I wamted to know what the journal pages were going to look like with white heat embossed images, I also created these inky backgrounds with the flowers on it.  I chose to use the black stamped images for the heart shapes on the art journal spread, so had these lying around. A very beautiful leftover, so to speak..   I decided to use these on cards.  For the base of the heart I created a background. I stamped script with red ink into wet golden modelling paste.  It makes it so shiny and beautiful! A thread around the bottom of the heart finishes it off.  I did the same for this second card, now with another one of the flowers from the Sketchy Flowers Stamp set.  I added a transparant button to which I adhered part of the leftover background (from the golden modelling paste) on the back of it....

Journal Steps with Inky Friends by Ellie Knol

Image
A fun mixed media art journal page: a step-by step from me, Ellie Knol today.  Start by decoupaging a paper napkin to cardstock. It's more about the colors than the images ...  Sponge over a stencil with a terra red acrylic paint (Fresco Finish Brown Shed) as shown.   Use the same stencil and apply modeling paste here and there.  While the modeling paste is still wet, sprinkle a teal embossing ( Verdigris from Ranger) on a few of the numbers, here and there, and heat emboss it.  Now the numbers are in 3 different colors... a bit much,  .. so, apply white gesso with your fingers and knock down areas and in different directions. Create a 'Frame' by tearing the edges and sponging it with Cracked Pistachio Distress and Distress Oxide inks.  Stamp in the background with the  Grungy Swirls  stamp and  Old Book Page  script with a dark brown.  Stamp the butterflies on separate cardstock with a dark brown stamping ink, fussycut th...

A journal spread with Butterfly girl 1 by Saadia Nawaz

Image
Hi everyone, Saadia here, with an art journal spread. I hope you like it and get inspired. I made this spread in a Dylusions square journal. I applied a coat of white gesso and let it dry and then applied acrylic paints with my fingers. I applied the paints in layers till I was happy with the background. Next, I applied white modeling paste through a stencil by The Crafters workshop TCW804 Ocean window. After that, I glued a heart shaped cardstock in the center and applied Little Birdie Crafts crackle paste on it. Lastly, I stamped the  Butterfly girl 1  image onto a white cardstock, colored and fussy cut the image. Glued the image and stamped the words from  Think again stamp set  on the heart. That's all for now. A reminder that we have a challenge that goes all month on our face book page which you can find  Here . It is always ANYTHING GOES/ or a colour combo if you wish. Thank you for visiting. Take care, Saadia Nawaz. ...

Technique Thursday- adding texture with modeling paste stamping

Image
Hi everyone, It's Asia here with a modeling paste stamping technique. I prepared for you a small photo tutorial, so let's start:) I used two pieces of paper (250g/m²), a little smaller than ATC size. I spread on them modeling paste and let it to settle for few minutes (you can actually get the similar effect with white gesso, but I decided to use here modeling paste:)  After the paste dried a little, I stamped it with beautiful leaves stamp from Rubber Dance- Crazy Flowers #2. First time my stamping did not worked as well as I would like it, but after removing a little of paste from the cards and stamping again, it worked perfectly. Remember to wash your stamps as quickly as possible after stamping on paste or gesso! Next step was to add colors. I used Lindy's Magicals- with powders I had more control of where the colors go and how strong they are. To achieve that, I sprayed water over the tags, then added powder and then, where needed, I spread i...
