The birds are in our gardens; looking forward to spring... I am too!   Playing with color and stamps in a journal makes for joyful time spent..  The picture above is where the coloring of the stamped and fussy cut images still has to be done! The background is a playful one with Neocolor II crayons...  How?  Scribble Neocolors II onto the page, spread the colour by wetting it with water-diluted gesso. Try to do each color with a fresh load of gesso as it will turn muddy otherwise. For interest, add pure gesso in a few spots.  Add more stamping in the background with Mixed Media Stamps! A fun mixed media project from me, Ellie, today.  Gather papers in purples and greens to be used for the collage. It's about the color, not the images.  Tape a 13 x 13 cm heavy weight watercolor paper to a board with masking tape, leaving a frame of 10,5 centimeters in a square. Stamp some Mixed Media stamps onto the paper with a brown and black ink. Adhere the colored papers onto the paper, overlapping some of the text, starting with some neautral papers, and adding colored ones. Leave to dry.  Scribble onto the surface with Neocolor II crayons in matching colors. Blend the colors with a little medium and/or gesso, scribble in it, apply gesso and paints with a brush or fingers until you are satisfied with the background. Leave to dry, remove the tape, tear the edges for the background to fit the card base. These new  Inky Friends  stamps make me happy. Apart from flowers I am a real fan of insect stamps too... I've made an art journal page for you this time.   The background? For interest, add pure gesso in a few spots.  I've added extra color to the stamped images with the same colors of Neocolors used in the background to make them pop. As you can see, I chose to use a vertical motion to add the gesso and scribbling. Hi everyone Debs here with one of my how tos, and this week I’m focusing on recycling packaging. You know that stuff that comes in boxes along with your goods to hold it all in place. This pieces is 8x12 and about 1/2in thick, it’s not solid, as it has strips of card sandwiched between outer layers of card, and is quite sturdy. I gave the substrate a coat of white Gesso first to seal it, and provide a light hue base upon which to work. Wanting more layers of acrylic paint I chose Fresco Finish from Paper Artsy in mauves, blues and greens. I built up several layers of the paint and then with the end of my paint brush I added some scraffiti  And then dried it thoroughly with a heat gun. Next I used water colours by  Zig Kuretake GansaiTambi  in the same hues, and with my water gun made the paint drip and run. I then flicked on some gold, as well as adding some to the edges. Good morning and good Sunday, we are soon in December, but I don't have a Christmas card to show off.  I will celebrate Bibi, and create a birthday card to honor her. Hi everyone, it's Liesbeth here again.  This time I would like to show you an art journal page using some Rubber Dance stamps.  As I'm very much in love with this couple (from the stamp sheet  Travel ),  I used them as the focal point. This is how I created these pages: Cover a journal spread with old bookpaper and add a layer of gesso.  Keep it translucent at the top of the page and more opaque at the bottom.  Add torn pieces of different washi tape as shown. Using black StazOn ink, stamp some text stamps here and there.  I used stamps from Travel and  Collage Mix Add structure with some stencils and molding paste.  Let dry well. Stamp some circles  ( Round in circles ) Add colour by using Gelatos.  Blend the colours with a waterbrush.
