Bird Ready For Spring Journal page by Ellie Knol

Image
The birds are in our gardens; looking forward to spring... I am too!   Playing with color and stamps in a journal makes for joyful time spent..  The picture above is where the coloring of the stamped and fussy cut images still has to be done! The background is a playful one with Neocolor II crayons...  How?  Scribble Neocolors II onto the page, spread the colour by wetting it with water-diluted gesso. Try to do each color with a fresh load of gesso as it will turn muddy otherwise. For interest, add pure gesso in a few spots.  Add more stamping in the background with Mixed Media Stamps! What is the 40 for? It's our house number in the street, the row of circles are the 'stones' around the border ..  I am ready for spring!  Rubber Dance Stamps: The Rubber Dance Webshop Textured Birds Flowers Gone Wild Grungy Swirls Mixed Media Marks Mix A Sentiment 1 Pick A Number Round In Circles

Mixed Media Foliage by Ellie Knol

Image
A fun mixed media project from me, Ellie, today.  Gather papers in purples and greens to be used for the collage. It's about the color, not the images.  Tape a 13 x 13 cm heavy weight watercolor paper to a board with masking tape, leaving a frame of 10,5 centimeters in a square. Stamp some Mixed Media stamps onto the paper with a brown and black ink. Adhere the colored papers onto the paper, overlapping some of the text, starting with some neautral papers, and adding colored ones. Leave to dry.  Scribble onto the surface with Neocolor II crayons in matching colors. Blend the colors with a little medium and/or gesso, scribble in it, apply gesso and paints with a brush or fingers until you are satisfied with the background. Leave to dry, remove the tape, tear the edges for the background to fit the card base. Use the background as a backdrop for some stamped images.  I chose the leaf only stamp from the Inky Flowers set as it is autumn now, and also because I did not w...

Inky Friends Art Journal Collage by Ellie Knol

Image
These new  Inky Friends  stamps make me happy. Apart from flowers I am a real fan of insect stamps too... I've made an art journal page for you this time.   The background? Scribble Neocolors II onto the page, spread the colour by wetting it with water-diluted gesso. Try to do each color with a fresh load of gesso as it will turn muddy otherwise. For interest, add pure gesso in a few spots.  I've added extra color to the stamped images with the same colors of Neocolors used in the background to make them pop. As you can see, I chose to use a vertical motion to add the gesso and scribbling. Let me know whether you'd like a video tutorial on this background technique.  Have crafty fun.. ... and enter our challenge if you'd like to win some rubber goodies from Rubber Dance. Dreamcatcher Tag by Susanne

Image
Les innlegget på norsk (post in Norwegian) Hi everyone! It's Susanne writing today and I have a step by step tutorial for this Dreamcatcher tag. I used the brand new "Textured Feathers" stamps plus some patterns from the "Textured Flowers". In addition to the stamps you need some watercolor crayons, gesso, pastel pencils or markers, black marker and a black ink pad. I worked on watercolor paper. Step1: First layer. Add some warm colors and blend them with gesso. You can either use a brush or your fingers. Step2: Second layer. Let the first layer dry. Add some cool tones and blend them with gesso. Step3: Third layer. Add colors of your choice, after everything is dry. Blend them with water. Step4: Make more marks with pastel pencils or any other markers. Not everything will work fine on the crayons. Just try it. Step5: Draw the dreamcatcher ring and add the feathers. I used a black uniPOSCA marker and black pigment ink for the stamps. ...

Beach Film Strip by Susanne

Image
Hi my dear Rubber Dance Friends. Susanne writing today and I like to share a holiday film strip. I used the Take The Plunge and the Retro Beach stamp sets. I used washi tape to mask the filmstrip, which I printed with the computer. I picked Gold Rich embossing powder for the sun and Archival Ink Coffee for the sea shells. All the rest is stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink. I colored it with Neocolor crayons. I skribbled each crayon onto my craft mat and picked it up with a watertank brush. I stamped  the lovely Seahorse with Memento Luxe Teal Zeal. This one is cut out seperately.
