Artist Trading Coins with Fly Fly Flowers

Image
Hello Rubber Dance friends.  Gail here today with a little experiment I thought I'd try.  I wanted to make some Artist Trading Coins with the lovely Fly Fly Flowers stamp.  This is quite a tall stamp and my idea was to use the leaves bit as the ATCoins background and then add the little butterflies and dragonfly as the focal point.  I also decided I wanted to use black card as the base!! Quite cute eh?? I started with some Blackberry Bazzill card and stamped the leaves with Salty Ocean distress oxide ink.  It looked lovely wet, but when it dried to that lovely chalky look it didn't give me the contrast I was hoping for.... So I tried again with Mowed Lawn distress oxide, and then with Taylored Expressions Sugar Cube ink.  I loved the white, but I was really looking for colours, so I decided to try stamping the green on the white.  The third image is that combo and the white did lift the green colour a bit.  Make sure your let the inks dry betwe...

Fly-Fly Flower Tutorial with Cornelia

Image
Hi Everyone, Cornelia here today. I recently got this gorgeous stamp called  Fly-Fly flowers  from Rubber Dance. It needed to go on a card. My stamp supplies: Fly-Fly flowers And that's how I did it: I stamped the flowers twice and cut them with my Scan'N Cut. Added some drops of cheap Acrylic paint (from Michaels) onto thick card stock smeared it with my fingers and let it dry. Splattered orange acrylic paint onto my panel and let it dry again. Glued the flowers onto the card base. I thought it needed some more pop of color, so I took an orange marker and colored the butterfly bodies with it. Looked much better. I decided to not use a sentiment. I don't think it really needs one. Don't forget about our challenge, which goes until the end of the month. Play along, if you find time! You'll find it in the  Facebook Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge  and its those three colors you see below or anyt...

Easy Joseph's Coat Technique - Sue

Image
Good afternoon and happy Tuesday. It's Sue here with a really easy way of doing the Joseph's Coat technique. This is traditionally done with lots of black ink over coloured embossing. It looks lovely but it can be a bit patchy, and your ink pad has to be really juicy. I once made my Dad a card and he looked like the police had taken his fingerprints for days!  Anyway this technique is much simpler as it uses black card rather than black ink. The first thing to do is to go over your black card with an anti-static bag (or talc in a pop sock - glamerous eh) as you use white embossing powder and any little flecks will show. I've just stamped and embossed Textured Flowers ,and  Fly Fly Flowers . The stars are also from the Textured Flowers plate. Yes it's those inks and daubers again! You just pick up the colour with the small pointy end and dab it over the white embossing. The Stazon colours it beautifully and dries really quickly - no messy paw print...

Cards Made From a Masterboard by Dot Leathbridge

Image
Hi everyone, I'm back this weekend with a tutorial to show you how easily a masterboard can be turned into cards. Most of us have heard of 'masterboards' being talked about and have wondered ... why? ... how? ... is it really of any use? I found it a whole lot of fun, not over-complicated and the hero in the end was the stamping. Both the colours and the stamp sets are matching. I've also gone with hearts and winged-things as a theme. They are kind of like an over-sized ATC in a round a bout way.  Here is what I've ended up with. I did end up with some left over pieces of card which I've kept because I like the colours. Step 1: I started with an A4 sized piece of white card. After smooching some DO's onto my craft sheet and spritzing with a little water, I wiped my card through the ink. Dried, dabbed more ink, dried ... until I was happy with the colours.  I've deliberately left some white spaces because I just thin...

Quick and easy CAS cards by Melina

Image
Hello! Melina here today with some really quick and easy cards!  I needed some "for all occasions" cards in my stash, so I made all these seven cards at the same time. I started by taping watercolour paper to my craft matt.  I wanted a sharp, white boarder outside my coloured area. I applied Distress oxide ink and used a different colour for some splashes. I stamped my images with the tape still on. Here they are with the tape removed - sharp white boarders as I wanted. Then I just stamped different sayings on my cards from the Beautiful Words stamp set, backed them with pattern papers and glued to my card bases. Done! That was quick and easy, right?
