Snowman ATB by Katy

It's very nearly time for that (beloved or dreaded - take your pick!) time of year again! So I've got a festive make for you today - a sweet little Christmas decoration. I am a bit obsessed lately with sticking things into/onto ATB (artist trading block) boxes (if you follow by blog you'll no doubt have noticed!). So here's Mr Frosty from the Frosty Friends set perched on top of his very own wintry box.

Here's how I made him:

Die cut the smallest ATB (or use any box template you may have). Spray with Distress Sprays in Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Salty Ocean. Add a little Faded Jeans here and there for a darker tone. Flick liberally with water to create 'bleached' areas all over - to do this, cup a little bit of water in your hand then open your hand over the inked card in a flicking motion.

Assemble the box and make a hole in the top as shown.

Stamp Mr Frosty and colour him using Distress Inks and a water brush. Cut him out and stick him to a cocktail stick.

Stick the cocktail stick on the back of the snowman into the hole. Use modelling paste to add 'snow' all around the base of the ATB and the base of the snowman. Apply with a palette knife and rough up the surface as you go. Sprinkle some Distress Stickles Dry Glitter into the paste while it's still wet so it has the glisten of real snow. The paste will hold the snowman in place once it'd dry.

Stamp the phrase in black. Colour the letters COLD with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a water brush - colour really loosely so it looks watery. Add a wash of ink around the edges of the other pieces.

Finally. add some touches of glitter to the snowman where he might catch the snow - on his hat, the tops of his arms and around his scarf.

I hope you like my festive decoration. See you soon - and Merry Christmas to you all.

Love Mr Frosty too, in fact just played with him at the week end! The ATB(s) would make good table decorations for the Christmas lunch.
